Barack Obama blasts pro-Hamas Op-Ed
Jerusalem Post ^ | March 24, 2008 | RON KAMPEAS/ JTA

Posted on 03/23/2008 7:19:29 PM PDT by rdl6989

Sen. Barack Obama says that a pro-Hamas op-ed printed in his church's bulletin was "outrageously wrong."

In an issue dated July 22, 2007, in a section titled "Pastor's Page," the Trinity United Church in Chicago reprinted an article by Hamas official Moussa Abu Marzook. The article, which originally appeared as an op-ed in the Los Angeles Times, justifies the Palestinian terrorist group's denial of Israel's right to exist.

The church's pastor, Jeremiah Wright Jr., who retired this year, has stirred controversy for Obama's campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination with statements likening Israel to colonialists and blaming attacks on the United States in part on its support for Israel.

In slamming the Hamas piece, Obama noted that he strongly rejects some of his longtime pastor's views. "I have already condemned my former pastor's views on Israel in the strongest possible terms, and I certainly wasn't in church when that outrageously wrong Los Angeles Times piece was re-printed in the bulletin," Obama said in a statement e-mailed to JTA late Thursday.

Just in case there's anyone out there who might want a little more CONTEXT on the Rev. Jeremiah Wright on this Easter weekend...before joining the lynch party...here's one white pastor's remarks...IN CHURCH again...about the "demonization of Jeremiah Wright" that's so obviously in vogue...

Go Here

Flame if you must, but I'm just a bit concerned about so much 'context' that's not being mentioned...such as...

Dr. Jeremiah Wright IS a top Biblical scholar (that's why he was at the White House with Slick Willie)...

It WAS wrong for Clinton to call Obama a "kid" acting out a "fairytale" (not far from calling him a "boy" in 1958)...

The snippets that show Wright saying something construed by many as 'true' are never played or discussed...

The Founders did NOT tell the whole truth in the Founding documents...George Washington (and others) owned slaves & did NOT consider them "equal under the law"...

We DID participate in the kidnapping of Africans for slave labor (they didn't land on Plymouth Rock, that rock landed on them)...

Women were NOT allowed to vote until relatively recently...

We DID drop atom bombs on Nagasaki & Hiroshima non-combatants, the ONLY nation to ever do such a thing in anger, and it WAS horrific (I've seen some of the 'after-action' photos)...

We DID support Apartheid in South Africa...

And CHURCHES are supposed to separate places in the 'Land of the Free' where FREE SPEECH is protected...

There's something in the air that's causing me to sense a backlash up ahead...maybe I'm wrong...

Done...flame away...or simply excuse this interruption & return to normal activities...

“I denounce furiously the evil sentiments of my former pastor. I do not agree with his pro-Hamas, anti-Israel proclamations. But I could no sooner disown him than I could disown my old Granny, who once said she did not like rap music.”

I have to wonder if this is a Church or some kind of hate group!

Innocent lamb!

You'd best bone up on Black Liberation "Theology"

"Liberation Theology has moved from the poor peasants in South America to the poor blacks in America. We now have Black Liberation Theology being preached in the black community. It is the same Marxist, revolutionary, humanistic philosophy found in South American Liberation Theology and has no more claim for a scriptural basis than the South American model has. False doctrine is still false, no matter how it is dressed up or what fancy name is attached to it. In the same way that revolutionary fervor was stirred up in South America, Liberation Theology is now trying to stir up revolutionary fervor among Blacks in America...

http://www.gotquestions.org/liberation-theology.html

In a speech last year to a conclave of Liberationist black ministers, obamamama reminded them of the "Quiet Riot" that had been simmering long before the Rodney King Riots = he goes on the say, "The 'Quiet Riot' is still simmering.

"Black Power" and making Whitey pay is their goal.

This is serious business for our country

This “black liberation theology” is nothing more than a variant of the Nazi attempt to “de-judaize” Christianity and make it “Aryan”.

James Cone and his ilk are listening to the same demon.

And if they do not repent, they will face the same eternity as the Nazis.

Barack is a Real Man of Genius in the Spirit of the Budweiser Ads:

Today, we salute you, Mr. Oblivious Racist Church Attender.

[Singer: Mr. Oblivious Racist Church Attender.]

You’re running for President as a man of faith, but paying attention in church was never your strong suit.

[Singer: What did he just say about chickens?]

Your church publishes editorials in the bulletin praising Hamas, but you didn’t see it. You’re blessed to be a man who knows when to watch the football game, sleepi in, or find any reason to stay away from your church whenever something dumb happens.

[Singer: A very conventient truth.]

You stand boldly behind your church. They’re not crackpots, we just believe the government caused AIDS.”

[Singer: With the help of the Roswell aliens and Elvis.]

The media’s willing to give you a pass and yuppie college students send you their doritos money. So pop open a cold one, O Clueless one. Few can get the American media to buy they didn’t know what was going on in their own church for two decades, but you can Silver-tongued Messiah of the directionless. That’s why we salute you, Mr. Oblivious Racist Church attender.

[Singer: Mr. Oblivious Racist Church Attender.]

It is largely moderate to conservative but there are some real lefties floating around. I hope I am never held to answer for them.

If your church leaders have sermons that preaches the virtues of the white race, the scourge that is called the black race and honors KKK leaders, then I don't see why questions can't be raised by people about your continued church membership over a 20year period.

I'd say at the very least it indicates what type of character you have. If you were ever offended on a continuing basis you would leave that church and find another. Would you not?

And CHURCHES are supposed to separate places in the 'Land of the Free' where FREE SPEECH is protected

None of the items you cited have been refuted by anyone here or in the media. I think we all pretty much acknowledge WWII existed, Western nations supported South Africa during the Cold War, and ad nauseum.

Jeremiah Wright has free speech. He had it then, he has it now. No FBI agents have pounded down his door and dragged him to jail for exercising his free speech.

Many people interpret Free Speech as freedom from criticism. Nothing could be further from the truth. What happens many times is that liberals spout their crap and then whine when we reply. Certainly denying us our Free Speech. Obama was free to attend his Hate Whitey church for as long as he did and even now if he so desires. But I find it funny that you're defending his pastor and his church even as Obama scrambles to distance himself from that same church and man he has referred to as "like an uncle".

Obviously a nerve or two has been struck.

And just who has declared Jeremiah Wright a "biblical scholar"? Himself?

I was asked a question lately that I avoided because I did not know the truth of the premise.

Seemingly, during the primary, Mitt Romney told a story about how he cried when he heard that the Mormon Church was changing and that Blacks would no longer be discriminated against in the faith. The story goes that this took place when he was in Law School which means that he was in his 20’s. The lib badgered me by saying if Romney was not expected to leave the racist Mormon Church before the change, why should Obama be expected leave his.

I am not familiar with the story so I didn’t know if it was all bull.

I don’t think that this church story alone should be the nail in Obama’s coffin. Let it lie now that it is in the back of everyone’s mind and move on to his own, current , leftist politics. McCain’s history of patriotism and military record will wipe him up.

Is this really a Christian Church? Or a muslim church that claims to be Christian? I’m honestly curious.

We? Speak for yourself, honey. I did not participate in any such thing, nor did anyone I know.
