This guy, Fr. Michael Pfleger, has been running a renigade parish for 20 years now. About 3 years ago the Cardinal told him that he was going to be transferred to a different assignment, but Fr. Pfleger said he wouldn’t go and that he would leave the church and take the parish with him if the Cardinal tried to follow through.

The Cardinal went back to his office with his tail between his legs and hasn’t brought up the subject since to my knowledge.

I honestly pray and feel sorry for Cardinal George for the mess he inherited. He could excommunicate/defrock Snuffy for disobedience and probably for a number of other issues..but it would create quite a media firestorm and probably an uproar. That being said, I could not watch more than a minute of that speech it is so embarrasing as a Catholic.

Sounds like it's time to contact the bishop of this diocese
This priest also endorsed Obama on Obama’s website.

Kind of hard to get others including Catholics to vote against pro-abortion politicians while Catholic priests are endorsing them!!!

I’ve heard Cardinal George is in a tough spot, it may be harder for him to make changes than is apparent on the surface. One, his diocese has almost not a single priest that isn’t gay. (Although the Cardinal is not, and is also devout and fairly orthodox.) Two, he was threatened by the mob, and the Chicago police, when he tried to implement certain changes. More I cannot say, but things are really, really ugly in Chicago, and many bad yet influential people are intertwined with one another’s outfits.

I don't have an e-mail for the Chancery but this was posted on another article as the web site for the diocesion News paper

or email the Archdiocese newspaper: editorial@catholicnewworld.com

Might be a good idea if Chicago hears how the faithful feel.

I have been a Southern Baptist my whole life and I was embarrassed for the Catholics after watching a few seconds of that!

Two comments:

1) St. Sabina Parish should simply be suppressed. Closed. Shut down.

2) The Cardinal went back to his office with his tail between his legs ... There's the problem, right there in a nutshell.

Ping for the media’s favorite “Catholic” priest in Chicago. Why this guy hasn’t been excommunicated yet is beyond me. Cardinal George ought thrown him out of town ASAP and find a CONSERVATIVE black priest to take over at St. Sabina.

I agree, listening to "Father" Pfiger spew his rant about poor "Rev" Wright for 1 min. was about as much as I could take.

I think Cardinal George really ought to call this jerk's bluff and replace him with a FAITHFUL, traditional Catholic priest at St. Sabina who happens to be black, since the parish is overwhemingly black parishers. I seriously doubt the majority of them will leave the RC church if their new priest is black.

And don't excommunicate "Father" Flakey, transfer him to some ultra-conservative parish where the locals will eat him for breakfast if he opens his yapper to priase any liberal racists. That might get him to rethink his priestly vows to be humble. If he still won't shut up, then he needs to be stripped of his priesthood.

I knew it had to be Flaky Father Mike as soon as I saw the headline.

I went to show the video to my mom, only to discover it’s now been “removed due to terms of use violation”. I wonder what “terms of use” it violated.

If it's a "liberal Catholic priest from Chicago" pimping for Obama, it might have well been "Father" Andrew Greeley as well. I'm surprised those two are never seen together. If Greeley is the Emporor Sideous of the dark side of Catholism, then Pfiger is his Darth Vader.

What can I say? I've met Pfleger personally on several occasions. I don't endorse him. But, I've seen first hand what he's done in what was nothing but a heroin infested ghetto. He's created an island of prosperity and hope. How can I be against that?

All I can say, is that it strikes me similar to Brando's character in Apocalypse Now. That is to say that he has acclimated to the environment and prospered very well.

Perhaps a bit too well.

I know a bishop who laicized a priest for refusing to accept an assignment.

By giving Cardinal George this ultimatum, Pfleger actually broke his communion with the Church. Any moral theologian will tell you that anyone who says “If you do such and such, I’ll leave the Church!” has already left the Church. It’s sort of like those who stood at the foot of the Cross and said, “If you come down, we will believe.” Belief with conditions is not belief.

He preaches “black” at all times. And wears dashikis instead of legitimate Roman Catholic vestments. And dances around the altar. And ridicules pro-lifers. And snuggles with every pro-abortion pinko politician he can get to come visit his church.

If Cardinal George backed down when this guy threatened schism, then Pfleger has the Cardinal’s nads in a jar on his desk. He will never give them back, either.

Bishops who avoid “media firestorms” are merely setting the stage for the ACTUAL burning of churches, with Catholics inside of them. Oh, it may take another generation, or two, or three. But it will happen, and today’s bishops will have a share in the responsibility. The Catholic bishops who caved in to Henry VIII (all of them but one) avoided a “firestorm,” too.

Remember how people were pleading with the bishops in the SIXTIES to excommunicate the handful of pro-abortion Catholic politicians? Such wackos those people were! They actually thought that abortion might develop into a REAL problem!

Yes, George inherited a cesspool, left by the corrupt Cody, and the satanic, flaming pederast Bernardin. But what good does it do to leave the mess for the next bishop, and the next, and the next?
