As Ohio election officials investigate illegal crossover voting in the 2008 primary, questions arise on Rush Limbaugh's role.
Limbaugh, the nation's top-rated talk radio host, was urging Republicans in Texas and Ohio to skip their party's primary on March 4 and instead cast a vote for Hillary Clinton in order to prolong the fight between her and Barack Obama.
What Limbaugh encouraged Republican voters to do in Ohio was a fifth-degree felony in that state, punishable with a $2,500 fine and six to 12 months in jail.
On Thursday, March 20, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that the "Cuyahoga County Board of Election has launched an investigation that could lead to criminal charges against voters who maliciously switched parties for the March 4 presidential primary."
In 2008, 2.22 million Ohioans voted in the Democratic primary, compared to 1.27 million in 2000, according to unofficial results released by Brunner's office. In contrast, 1.01 million Ohioans voted in the 2008 Republican primary, compared to nearly 918,000 people in 2004.
Michael Slater of Project Vote, a nonpartisan group that designs voter registration drives for low-income people, said GOP meddling in the Ohio Democratic Primary was a clear-cut example of fraudulent voting, which is how Republicans have defined the issue in recent years, as GOP advocates have urged state legislatures and Congress to adopt anti-fraud measures such as tougher voter ID laws.
"Here we have a real instance of spurring people on to engage in illegal election activities with a real intent to affect the outcome," Slater said. "That is voter fraud. People were encouraged to break the law. They had to declare allegiance to a political party and sign a document under penalty of perjury. Intent is what matters in voter fraud."
Didn’t Rush win his case in Florida?
Nowhere does it explain just what it is that a voter does to be criminally responsible. This crime will not stand muster, as, it is against free speech and free association. To paraphrase a truly treasonous American, “I was for Hillary before I was against her.”
No....I said that he has consistanty underestimated the Clintons since 1992. I pointed to examples of statements he made in which he was shown to be wrong about their electability and tenacity.
Look, Rush is right on a lot of things but he's almost NEVER been right about them. And it doesn't look like he's going to wise up any time soon.
This is about Rush rooting for Hildebeast not about voting Pal.
You know, if she DOESN’T win, you end up looking pretty stupid here. Maybe we should question your motivations, since it seems ok to question Rush’s.
McCain was certainly not my first, second, or third choice. I was a Fred Thompson supporter. But the thought of having Obama or Hillary in charge with a Democratic Congress is just too frightening a thought. I am awake. I have trouble sleeping just thinking of the possibilities.

He is married to Lori Cain, a newspaper photographer, and they are proud parents of a baby boy named Benjamin."
What has a Radio show EVER done to influence the Laws or Lawmakers of this country?
If you can find some evidence of that, I’ll be interested.
McCain has McCain Feingold/ McCain Kennedy/ and he’s working on McCain/Lieberman.. so what’s your gig?
Got Facts..?
I'm not the one who told the Washington Post: "I would just as soon the Democrats take the hit (by getting a President elected in November) . . . rather than a Republican causing the debacle...And I would prefer not to have conservative Republicans in the Congress paralyzed by having to support, out of party loyalty, a Republican president who is not conservative."
That was Rush, in February of this year, saying that he thought it would be better if a Democrat won in November.
Hes from Camp G. Ohio
What the hell? He’s from Cape Girardeau, Missouri!
Sheesh.
Kinghorse appears to be in his cups.
We are Troll City tonight.
Also he stated that Hilary would not run for the Senate then when she did run he stated that she would not win.
Glad there is an old-timer here remembering times when Rush was confident that Dole will get elected. I remember when Rush was shure Daddy Bush will get elected for second term in 1992. I was listening to Rush in those times.
But later on Rush found out that he makes tons of money more when Slick Willy was in Office.
Thats why Rush want Hillary to win election now.
He was full of crap then, he is full of it now.
It is the El Zibo sycophants who are drinking the cool aid and cannot see that he wants to defeat McCain at any cost and hence wants him to face the stronger general elections candidate Hillary Clinton.
I agree with that statement. It was also made BEFORE McCain locked up the nomination. Think of it as a warning. A warning that most Republicans failed to heed. Rush is not the problem here. McCain is the problem. The GOP is the problem. You are enabling them.
