Monday, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy make her announcement in regards to potential charges filled against Mayor Kilpatrick. Many Metro Detroit media outlets will be following the press conference live. This story may not only have impact to the Metro Detroit region but nationally as well.
I do not know the time Petronski.
Congressional Black Caucus members have officially stood by, defending their colleagues presumption of innocence. The Constitution entitles every citizen to be presumed innocent until a court of law decides otherwise. We just have to leave it to the courts, Rep. Bobby Scott (D-Va.), a member of the Judiciary Committee told The Final Call when the charges were first announced.
CBC Chair Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick (D-Mich.) offered support. While the charges against Congressman William Jefferson are gravely serious and warrant thorough deliberation, the law of the land entitles every citizen the presumption of innocence until the court of law deems otherwise, Rep. Kilpatrick said in a statement. Therefore, we trust the merits of the case against Congressman Jefferson will be examined in a court of law instead of the chambers of public opinion. We stand by our members until proven guilty in a court of law.
Ms. Worthy’s professionalism at her position is incredibly heartening.
Worthy expects the mayor and Beatty to turn themselves in no later than 7 a.m. tomorrow.
Between this, the Detroit machine running for cover, Granholm, and the DNC stiffing the MI votes, McCain wins MI.
Ms. Worthys professionalism at her position is incredibly heartening.
A dose of professionalism would be great if given to all our politicians. I’d love to see her succeed in her efforts to nail corruption. For too long I think politicians think they are above the law and serve their own interest rather than the publics. I’m sure not all fall in that category but many do and taint the perception of the group.
Where, oh where is our glorious governor?
Whoops, I forgot. She’s pretty busy squandering taxpayer money to pay attention to a trivial thing like Detroit sucking the rest of the state down the drain.
My advice to Granholm: Remove Detroit from the official list of Michigan’s “Cool Cities”.
The Mayor is a drag to the City, the State and the DNC in an election year.
I bet somewhere in DC, in the inner workings of the DNC they are $&i++ing their pants and want this behind them.
Glad to hear this. I was afraid we would never see the day that he was held accountable.
Notice he is out of the country looking Presidential. Quite a contrast.
I’m not worried about that, but I am worried about giving Kwame the idea.
:’) That was probably going to happen anyway, but in Michigan the elections are stolen by the SE part of the state.
If you would like to be added or dropped from the Michigan ping list, please freepmail me.
I'm so late in coming to the party! Had to take a sick kid to the doctor...
Hope the little one is better.
His Honor had a press conference and no sign of resignation.
Unbelievable....
Aren’t they cute? / s
That’s what happens when you think you are above the law.
Pictures taken in Westland. Don’t they love their city of Detroit? Why didn’t they turn themselves in at the home city? And why was Kwame allowed to speed his Navigator into a county garage? Why didn’t we get a perp walk?
They’re still getting special treatment.
They wanted to give them a modicum of privacy. The Westland office is in Wayne County and since it is Ms. Worthy's arena, that makes sense. But If it is the bldg is the one I think it is, it is set back from the road and is non-descript. A good choice if you want to keep press away, but what do I know I am not in law enforcement, those are just my thoughts on the choice.
In terms of the speeding, he still is in Gangsta mode. But if Ms Worthy's discussions with the Fed's (like she mentioned) bears any fruit, maybe we will see a perp walk at some point. I get the impression the Feds don't mess around.
