WASHINGTON (AP) - Supporters of both Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton agree on at least one thing -- that Obama's campaign shouldn't have let a retired general accuse Bill Clinton of McCarthyism.
The fracas started when the former president spoke last week in North Carolina, saying it would be great to have an election between "two people who loved this country" and focused on the issues instead of other distractions.
Retired General Merrill McPeak accused Clinton of questioning Obama's patriotism, and likened the comments to communist-hunting Senator Joseph McCarthy.
On "Fox News Sunday," Obama supporter and New Mexico governor Bill Richardson said he doesn't think Clinton was trying to be divisive, and added that the campaign was getting too negative.
A Clinton supporter, Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell, said McPeak's inference was unfair. He says the Obama team tries to "have it both ways" -- calling for an end to negative campaigning, but then accusing someone of McCarthyism.
“Clinton, Obama Advisers Fault Obama, Clinton Camps For Criticism Of Clinton, Obama”
That headline has more twists than an Arkansas family tree!
I just hope that these two lightweights continue to pummel eachother for the next several weeks.....
This is just too danged much fun!!!
Quite right. McCarthy was an anti-Communist crusader. The clintons are Communists, or at least hillary is. Therefore, it was a false comparison.
McPeak’s bio shows him to have been a mediocre commander at best. Not particularly distinguished, certainly not enough to have been promoted to General. But that is unfortunately typical of peacetime. A lot of armchair assclowns have gotten bumped upstairs just for hanging around long enough.
The commies know McCarthy was correct and that is why he was demonized. There are many of us from the (Old Guard) who appreciate Joe McCarthy’s service to our country.\

Obama continues to be judged by the company and supporters he attracts...
General McPeak, who had to read his condemnation of Clinton, is a universally acknowledged “perfumed prince” and a certifiable anus orifice..
No military “jury” would ever designate McPeak as a warrior in defense of the Republic.
He was more interested in fancy dress uniforms and “such”...
Actually — Bill Clinton had it right — Obama would have and should have come under scrutiny by “McCarthy” for his un-American activities..... PAST and PRESENT.
You got that right.
When Fast Eddie Rendell goes up against the goateed porker Richardson for some stupid reason I root for Fast Eddie. I heard some talk that Richardson might be first in line for the VP after coming to Barry’s rescue. Richardson looked like a slob in his goatee, blue blazer and khaki pants at the announcement of his endorsement. I have posted it couple of times before, but I agree with Carville, Richardson betrayed the Clintons but the sacred analogy is hooey. Richardson reminds me of Tessio in the Godfather where a member of one crime family betrays it for the sake of another crime family. And in the story that character’s fate who was played by Abe Vigoda indicated traitors always make the wrong choice.
You need a regular belt..in the chops. Go to
your room...JK
Exactly ,McCarthy was a Patriot Bill Clinton is a Triator.PERIOD
