My theory:
Obama adviser got worried over Obama’s lie that he’s been all over Europe and decided to add a little info. on his passport record to corroborate the lie.
1st attempt failed due to unforeseen security issue.
2nd attempt got past security issue and false info was placed.
3rd attempt was used to delete false info placed on 2nd attempt because they realized the records on the passport wouldn’t match records in corresponding European countries.

Maybe these guys were more interested in any dirt in Hillary and McCain's records with NObama's records records pulled to see if there's anything they need to start defending.
This could go from "NObama was wronged" to "NObama was wrong" in a heartbeat.
You're right that the MSM hasn't got the nerve to go near it.
