RUSH: We're gonna talk with Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter, about his new book. It's Never Give In: Battling Cancer in the Senate. Senator Specter, welcome to the program. It's nice to have you back with us here.
SEN. SPECTER: Rush, thank you very much for the invitation. It's a great pleasure to talk to you and your listeners. Thanks.
RUSH: The title of the book is Never Give In: Battling Cancer in the Senate. You were battling more than cancer in the Senate. I've read the summary of the book. It's 11 to 14 pages here. It is incredibly detailed about the process you went through when you were diagnosed. It was lymph cancer. But that was not the first health crisis you had. You had a brain tumor, am I correct about that?
SEN. SPECTER: Rush, that's right. I had a brain tumor. The doctor gave me three to six weeks to live, once. I was really shocked, and I sort of blurted out in the chain of consciousness -- it happened back in June of '93 -- I said, "Oh, my. My wife and I were going to go away for the weekend to celebrate our anniversary," and the doctor looked at me and said, "Go, and have a good time," believe it or not, and I thought to myself, Rush, "This guy must be crazy." I said, "Give me my films. I'm going to see another doctor," and I had it removed, and it was benign, and I found out that you couldn't tell for sure until you took it out, froze it, sliced it down, and looked at it under a microscope.

I could barely listen. I am glad for Specter and his family that he survived and is healthy. I am sad for Pennsylvania that they lost a great patriot like Santorum but they are still stuck with this political putz.
actually it shows how Rush is far more a class act than people give him credit. How many times has he criticised the RINOs like specter but he could still do this first class interview AND have it be interesting.
RINOs like Specter, Voinovich, Graham, et. al. ARE a cancer growing in the senate..........
Rush is definitely first class and top-notch...
What kills me is when my liberal buddies make it seem like I’m CRAZY for listening to him...and when I say why, have you ever heard him, once?
Well, no, but I hear he’s crazy.
Nice.
Now that statement is not a class act.
Like AS or not it was a good interview about his illness and recovery.
I wish the man only good health...every time I see or hear him I remember that he was the junior attorney on the Warren Commission that invented the single-bullet theory...this is not an honest man.
I have read dozens of books on all sides of the Kennedy assassination...that does not make me an expert, but I am aware of the issues still in dispute...Spector saved Jerry Ford and others on the commission with the magic bullet.
The commission could not fit the assassination into the time frame of the Zapruder film without it...as strange as that theory is...
Every time I see or hear Spector THIS is what I remember...he is a dishonest man.
Expect the usual criticisms for your comment, but I agree. I’m a big Rush fan, listen to him almost every day; but, I thought he was somewhat hypocritical having Specter on and emailed him questioning the Specter exposure. It’s fine that Specter is doing well, but I despise him and his RINO buddies. All Specter was interested in was trolling his book and Rush participated. I hope Rush didn’t get too wet carrying Specter’s water after having sworn not to do so after the ‘06 elections.
I’m glad he survived, but as a Republican Senator, you’d think he had ball cancer and lost them years ago. Putz is too nice of a word for that POS.
I honestly thought when I saw the words “Senate, Cancer and Specter” in the title that it was referring to the cancer that RINOs have been in that house of Congress.
In light of their performance, it wasn’t an unwarranted assumption.
Including "Case Closed"?
It’s too bad that death is the only term limit for these pompous blowhard power-inflated Senators. They should serve a few years, get a real job, get old and die in the private sector like the rest of us.
I think all of you have missed the point. The topic was living with and overcoming cancer. It seems that the people with cancer who strive to continue to work and to enjoy life to the fullest, no matter how bad they feel, are the ones who beat the cancer.
I congratulate Specter for writing the book. I hope it helps all people with debilitating diseases.
I couldn’t care less what this RINO has to say.
Prayers for his continued remission.
Kudos to Spectre in his fight against cancer. I wish he would fight the cancer in the senate ie, messers Schumer, Reid, Durbin, Kerry,Clinton, Obama, Kennedy et al.
You are so right. It reminded me of an old saying, “love the man but hate the sin”, in this case the sin was RINO Syndrome.
I was too lazy to shut off the radio or change the station. Whatever humanity I have left after having it ground down by the CRAPS behaviour for the past few decades was moved by the interview. That said, I detest Specter and the rest of his RINO colleagues in the Senate (Did you read that Lincoln Chaffee the recently defeated POS RINO Senator from RI is now supporting Obama?)and if it were possible to get a Santorum back through Specter’s death, I would be sticking pins into my Specter doll every hour of every day. Unfortunately it is not remotely possible now and I thus have no interest in Specter’s survival or death, health or illness, writing abilities or insights. He will find his justice soon enough.
