Thank You, Chris Wallace
By Sam Graham-Felsen - Mar 21st, 2008 at 12:59 pm EDT
On Fox and Friends this morning, hosts Steve Doocy, Brian Kilmeade, and Gretchen Carlson spent multiple segments sensationalizing a comment Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) made yesterday...
When the trio welcomed Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace onto the show, instead of previewing his show this weekend, Wallace announced that he was going to take his fellow Fox hosts to task for their excessive and somewhat distorting coverage of what Obama said...
We appreciate Chris Wallace for doing his job as a tough but fair journalist on a network that has been deeply irresponsible over the last week in its unrelenting and sensationalistic coverage of Senator Obama.
Senator Obama gave the speech he did on Tuesday because he believes that Americans are ready for a thoughtful, mature discussion about race, and are hungry to move past media-generated controversies that distract from the struggles they face in their everyday lives.
If Fox News wants to play clips of the same offensive sound bites every day from now until November, that's their right, but that type of coverage does a disservice to their viewers and to a nation that is facing serious challenges that merit thoughtful and honest reporting.
UPDATE: We've become aware of the fact that Brian Kilmeade was so offended by Fox and Friends this morning that he actually walked off the set. We appreciate the fact that he too was so offended by Fox's treatment of this serious issue that like Chris Wallace, he chose to speak out.
Prediction - Borat Osama will appear on Chrissy Wallace’s show next Sunday.
I am SHOCKED! SHOCKED! That Brian would walk off the set! He has never done this before! He and Chris Wallace get along so well, too! ;-)
You must just be acting like a typical white person.
Throwing Gramma under the bus certainly impressed me as progressive, lemme tell ya.
ROTFLMPO! I should have seen that coming, but I didn’t!
LOL! It's FRIDAY!!!
No he doesn't. Or, if he does, he could get together with Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams, Larry Elder and some typical white people. But he won't.
A Thomas Sowell he ain’t.
“Sam Graham-Felsen’....one of those metrosexuals who took his wife’s last name?
Yeah...That Wallace is a *good* typical white libber...
"Never trust anyone over 30."
I saw Chrissy say that this morning..and I didnt know that Brian walked out. Good for him...I should send him an email thanking him for it.
I wonder if they said anything on air about Brian leaving?
Look at other writings by this author and you will see a similar...um....’tone’.
Brian disagreed slightly with Steve and Gretchen about the “typical white person” remark, but he did not walk out in anger. It was a joke and he was back and friendly by the next segment.
Wallace was out of line. He admitted he’d watched snippets of the show and missed a lot of substance.
Roger Ailes has been very busy launching Fox Business Channel which looks at this point as a TITANTIC failure. The cost of this distraction is the success at FNC is starting to show some stress. I am not sure what is going on, but Anderson Cooper must have beat Greta in the ratings, some time, because CNN is advertising his show as the number show on cable news in its time slot. I have peeked in at her show a little this week, primarily because of the Wright controversy and to see how its being covered. On two occasions I can say her show really stunk. She interviewed Ted Williams the detective guy on his take on the controversy. It had very little news value. Political commentary is not what he was hired for and it showed. On another night, she tried to interview Al Sharpton on the controversy and give Sharpton credit, he is no lightweight. She had not done her homework and was relying on some questions supplied by her staff and was really not familiar enough with them to pose to a guy like Sharpton who had done some homework and knew what his talking points were going to be. She had to as Sharpton back the next night in an admission that she was not prepared enough on the subject to interview him. It was as pathetic a performance as I have seen on a cable news show.
*SIGH* They’re such typical white people at the Fox News Network...
Greta’s show is lame, I agree, I would rather watch Olberman slip into insanity at his hatred of Bush.
Since when is Fox and Friends supposed to be fair coverage? It is a talk show where they express their views. Does anyone condemn The View for not being fair and balanced. Did anyone watch Chrissy Matthews panel where they all thought Obamassiah speech was the greatest ever.
