LONDON (AFP) - A Norwegian student whose body was found dumped and covered in rubble in the basement of a block of flats in central London was semi-naked when she was discovered, police said Thursday. ADVERTISEMENT
Scotland Yard said they were now looking to trace a pair of jeans worn by Martine Vik Magnussen, 23, other items of clothing, a costume diamond ring, a watch, earrings and handbag.
"We are seeking information to locate clothing and personal effects belonging to Martine," said Detective Chief Inspector Jessica Wadsworth, leading the murder hunt.
"Information is sought urgently in relation to her Marc Jacobs bag, shoes, pair of jeans, Guess watch, Christian Dior earrings and a ring she was wearing on the night.
"All of these items were not recovered from the premises in Great Portland Street."
They refused to discuss whether there was a sexual element to the attack that left her with significant neck injuries.
Vik Magnussen, a business studies student at the private Regent's College university, was last seen alive early Friday at Maddox, a club popular with celebrities in the capital's plush Mayfair district.
Her body was found early Sunday in the basement of a block of flats in Great Portland Street, just north of London's main shopping area, Oxford Street, and about 1.5 miles (2.4 kilometres) from the club.
Police are urgently seeking to speak to a 21-year-old Yemeni national, Farouk Abdulhak, who knew Vik Magnussen socially from college, was with her last Thursday night and lived in the block of flats where her body was found.
He is thought to have flown to Yemen on Saturday. Scotland Yard said officers had not yet traveled there as part of their enquiries. Britain has no extradition treaty with Yemen.
Detectives said they would be at the Maddox club Thursday evening as part of an anniversary appeal for information.

Hate to say it but my first thought on reading the headline was that there had to be a Muzzie involved.
And to think, before I saw the part about the Yemeni national, I was going to ask if anyone thought the perp could be a Muslim.
Maybe he’s perfectly innocent, but I’m willing to bet against it.

He’s long gone, already back in Yemen, where he’ll never have to face up to the crime—if he did commit it.

I’m not from Rio Linda (I swear), but to me it means either no clothes on the bottom half of the body (but clothes on the top), or no clothes on the top half of the body (but clothes on the bottom).
