Global warming hastens arrival of springtime (really?)
AP/MSNBC ^ | March 20, 2008

The capital's famous cherry trees are primed to burst out in a perfect pink peak about the end of this month. Thirty years ago, the trees usually waited to bloom till around April 5.

In central California, the first of the field skipper sachem, a drab little butterfly, was fluttering about on March 12. Just 25 years ago, that creature predictably emerged there anywhere from mid-April to mid-May.

And sneezes are coming earlier in Philadelphia. On March 9, when allergist Dr. Donald Dvorin set up his monitor, maple pollen was already heavy in the air. Less than two decades ago, that pollen couldn't be measured until late April.

Pollen is bursting. Critters are stirring. Buds are swelling. Biologists are worrying.

"The alarm clock that all the plants and animals are listening to is running too fast," Stanford University biologist Terry Root said.

Blame global warming.

The fingerprints of man-made climate change are evident in seasonal timing changes for thousands of species on Earth, according to dozens of studies and last year's authoritative report by the Nobel Prize-winning international climate scientists. More than 30 scientists told The Associated Press how global warming is affecting plants and animals at springtime across the country, in nearly every state.

This is the “conventional wisdom” propaganda put out by the Liberal Media. This was “new” on the MSM dial-up home page for a day.

This is the garbage the schools are feeding our kids, too.

I’m in Indiana. If you don’t like the weather here in the Springtime, just wait 10 minutes.

Last year in our corner of southern California, spring came late. There was snow on the ground in March, and we had to burn wood in the fireplace for heat well into June. This year, spring is uncharacteristically early here. BUT BY ALL MEANS LET’S BLOW THAT UP INTO A THEORY THAT SAYS THE EARTH IS TURNING INTO A GIANT BALL OF FLAMING MUD AND WE’RE ALL DOOMED UNLESS WE TURN OVER HUGE AMOUNTS OF MONEY TO AL GORE AND COMPANY IN CARBON CREDITS!

Last year, IIRC, there were a record number of baseball games that were postponed because of snow.

Cleveland was one of the hardest hit.

Wonder what the betting line is on this Spring being just as bad for playing games.

More BS. We had 5 inches of snow last Saturday in Pocatello. We've had snow as late as April 15 in recent years. If anything, it has been colder this year. I recall many days when the temperature was -10 F over this past winter.

6-9 inches of spring falling tomorrow in Milwaukee. Winter storm watch here as well. Still snow on the ground from the January. Will end up being 3rd or 4th snowiest winter onrecord here in Badgerland.

I was reading this article and thought this is ——(still afraid of mom coming at me with the lava soap). I went back and looked to see when I had the coolers turned on last year, it was 03/22/2007. There is no way I would have them opened up this year, just few days more, we are still have 30 degree mornings, this morning was 35. A little to cool to have that when I crawl out of bed.

Yeah, with my Mariners in town freezin' their collective tookuses off. Making up those games was the reason they didn't make the playoffs. Well, that and the fact that they played like crap... ;-)

Come on everyone, the early spring was of course caused by starting daylight saving time earlier thus causing more hours of daylight. It even caused Easter to come much earlier this year. than usual.

We simply have to undo the early daylight saving switcharoo, then global warming will be held at bay for a few more years.

I as a scientist know these fact and there really is no longer any debate. Shut up and do as I say, please.

Cleveland was one of the hardest hit.

The first four home opening games where snowed out last year in early April. What an ugly week that was. Also don't forget NYC saw its coldest temperatures for May that year as well. May in general was cool in many places.
