It seems the more Barack Obama tries to explain the peculiar statement he made Tuesday concerning his white grandmother's "fear of black men who passed by her on the street," the more he's assuring attention regarding the matter.
"The point I was making was not that my grandmother harbors any racial animosity...But she is a typical white person. If she sees somebody on the street that she doesn't know . . .inbred...reaction in her that doesn't go away and it comes out in the wrong way."

He also accused white people of being slaveholders. Well, my family was still in Europe until way after the Civil War. They were hard working on both sides. My great grandmother plowed the fields for example. For Obama to assume or leave the impression in a speech that all whites in America were slaveholders is just plain stupid. Oprah’s the same way. No wonder she likes him.

Just sent those same words off to my local paper. Hope it makes into tomorrows issue. Reason is, Obama is actually coming to my town (Salem, OR) tomorrow!

Let’s get this straight.
Not only is Obama’s 20+ year spiritual adviser a racist lunatic?
Obama himself is also a racist?
So it appears. Nice.

Obama is like a new paint job on a car that doesn’t run. I knew he would tarnish, but I never thought that he’d fall like this.
Now, if the voters will be reasonable....

More than that, this is a misogynist remark.
ANY woman ALONE is uncomfortable around ANY GROUP of men, even if they are handing out Bible tracks.

This is a weird anecdote on several levels.Since we now know Obama to be a craven liar, we should bear in mind we only have his word that the incident ever occurred.
I think he wrote his biography in such a way as to create his own bona fides as a poor put-upon black man in racist America. Only he knows for sure if there's a shred of truth in anything he wrote in that book.

Good point
One more reason we should keep up pressure on the campaign to free Grandma Dunham to explain her side of the story.

He couldn’t have said any of those things because he doesn’t believe them. Simple truth is that speech was politically motivated and an attempt of a cover-up of his true feelings and beliefs.
The truth is far from Obama.

If this is an accurate quotation, then Obama’s white grandmother fears anyone she doesn't know, whether white or black. Perhaps her fear is not motivated by racial antipathy at all, but more a reflection of the vulnerability she feels due to age and infirmity?
