It seems the more Barack Obama tries to explain the peculiar statement he made Tuesday concerning his white grandmother's "fear of black men who passed by her on the street," the more he's assuring attention regarding the matter.
"The point I was making was not that my grandmother harbors any racial animosity...But she is a typical white person. If she sees somebody on the street that she doesn't know . . .inbred...reaction in her that doesn't go away and it comes out in the wrong way."

If you ain’t Dutch, you ain’t much!!!
A few days ago another FReeper posted some quotations from his 2 books. In view of his recent statements and the context of these quotes he has been exposed as the racist that he is.
Audacity Of Hope - “I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother’s race”.
Dreams Of My Father - “ That hate hadn’t gone away,he wrote, blaming “white people”-some cruel, some ignorant, sometimes a single face, sometimes just a faceless image of a system claiming power over our lives”.
I don’t have access to either of these books, but if any other FReepers do, could you please put these quotes in context?
Now that he’s dragged her into the campaign, it’s inevitable that Grandma Dunham will have to be brought forward to speak to the media, which he’s been trying to avoid since the beginning of the campaign.
I’ll wager, however, that she’ll explain it all away, and give him a pass. Demonstrating that she has more class than her ingrate grandson who was prepared to tar her as a doddering racist to advance his political prospects.
Hey, you know why Dutch people have all those “Vans” in their name?
They can’t spell truck.
and no media interest at all....
I guess the Mods did not like the stereo type of a black eating watermelon but the typical stereotype of a grandmother being a “Typicl White Person” fearing blacks is ok!
If hes willing to throw her under the bus, imagine what hell do the USA.
Very well stated.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again!!...
The more I think about Obama and his “historic” “throw Granny from the train speech”, the madder I get.
How dare Barack lecture me about race. How dare he tell me that those of us that were a part of the Reagan Revolution did so because we were racists!!!
Listen Barack, you didn’t give that speech because you WANTED to. You gave that speech because you HAD to. And why was that Barack? I’ll tell you why! It was because you sat under the teachings of a rabid racist for 2 DECADES!!!! You Barack! NOT me!
Don’t lecture me. I’ve spent my years as a white mother teaching my kids, in the words of MLK, to judge someone not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. What have you done? You’ve taken your kids and put them under the racist views of Wright only to raise up another generation to hate. Which one of us is the uniter here Barack?
If you can’t stand up to Rev. Wright, how in the world can we trust you to stand up to Ahmadinejad, Bin Laden or Chavez? The answer is, we can’t! And when I think about it, the only difference between YOUR pastor and these guys, are their addresses. ALL of them hate America and Israel and all of them do it in the name of God!
I have judged the content of your character by those whose company you CHOOSE to keep and I find it to be severely lacking! My prayer is that America will do the same in the privacy of the voting booth.
In other words, SCREW YOU Barack and the RACIST pastor you rode in on!!!
Good. The more this man talks, the more people see what a hateful racist he is.
Because he's a typical black Affirmative Action case?
How dare he drag his grandmother into this? That’s dodging in a most immature fashion by dragging granny into it. So was granny married to a white guy or a black guy? Poor woman may have been afraid of getting mugged but he forgot that was the gist of it, and not the color of the mugger. Obama’s no MLK. He’s going to always divert away from himself by using other examples. He also brought up “a white woman”. Then a “black man”. Wrong, wrong, wrong. His words when he has to point out color are divisive and it’s clear he distinguishes individuals by their skin tone to make a point. That’s exploitation and pandering to all Americans.
He may have meant Innate fear but innate was not in his superior vocabulary.
I thought his speech was very good, but this is a major misstatement here that no doubt will get NO coverage.
He is flat saying the typical white person is scared of black people, which is nonsense.
It was fun while it lasted. Hee hee
Interesting, worth discussing, but breaking news?
