A McCain campaign aide has been suspended for posting a racially charged video using the controversial words of Sen. Barack Obama's pastor on a blog.
"We have been very clear on the type of campaign we intend to run and this staffer acted in violation of our policy. He has been reprimanded by campaign leadership and suspended from the campaign,"
"I don't think Sen. McCain wants to get in the middle of a discussion about Sen. Obama's former pastor, or his faith. He believes that people who endorse you, people who befriend you are entitled to their own views, but you are not held personally accountable."

He will be abominable when the MSM turns on him - after he has actually secured the nomination. He doesn’t have quite enough delegates that legally have to vote for him on the first round yet. I figure the slam starts in a couple - three weeks.
Bingo. I wouldn't be surprised if some Rovian thinkers planned this. The firing made the news (and makes McCain look like a good guy, unlike the Grifter and O'bama who have been and will continue to attack each other). That makes people curious about the video. It makes people search for it on the internet and watch it. It is BO and Wright in their own words. Mission accomplished...
I wasn’t comparing anyone to anything. I was pointing out that the damage done (to Bush, anyway) by the Willie Horton story was non-existent. Not exactly the best cautionary tale for this situation.
As much as it pains me to say it, McCain’s right. Obama is crashing by himself. The last thing we need is for anyone in the media to start suggesting that the Republicans are behind it. Nothing would draw the Dems together faster.
The media is going to pin this on the republicans regardless. That's unavoidable. Lying is what they do best.
The best reason for McCain to stay out of this food fight is simple. Hillary doesn't need his help. The most desirable outcome to this primary is for Obama to hold the delegate and popular vote leads while the supers turn on him and give the nomination to Hillary. Let the blogophere hammer Obama, that's what we're going to need to give the super delegates cold feet in Denver. But no so much that Hillary wins the next ten states by a wide enough margin to take the popular vote.
A balancing act is required here. For that reason, McCain is making the smart play by staying out of it.
Good point, thanks.
