I am struck, though not entirely surprised, by the widening gulf between some Cable TV commentators and pundits reaction to Obama's speech and that of most of middle america. So disparate is the treatment, that It leads me to ask: did we watch the same speech? By and large, the acclamation given his speech by most liberal pundits has been unrestrained and effusive: On MSNBC, Sally Quinn gushed that it was the greatest in all of human history; tune in to any cable news channel and you will hear similar accolades.
We have seen this all before, most notably in the immediate aftermath of Obama's Iowa victory. So over the top was the mainstream media's transparent love for Obama, that it supplied the grist for Saturday Night Live's hilarity mill. After Iowa, MSNBC's Chris Matthews practically was drafting Obama's inauguration speech and had the Messiah of Hope measuring drapes for his all but certain tenure in the Oval Office. After his soaring Iowa victory speech, Matthews was

I was struck by the stupidity of his speech and his hate mongering.....
For a person who claims to want to unify, he certainly made the case for “hating republicans and talk radio”.
What a guy.
He came across as a poser and hack.
Amen
What I thought was telling was a minister who said Wright’s speeches reflected the mainstream Black churches.
This was not an “I had a Dream” speech as the MSM is telling us, it was a “Cover My A$$” speech.
If this speech was so great, why is Obama dropping like a rock in PA? Why has he had a 10 point approval rating swing in the past 2 weeks?
What Barry needed to say is, “I was raised by white, activists. I could obviously see, as a child, that no matter how much I loved them and they loved me, I would never be white like them. I went to Trinity for two reasons. The first was to discover my black identity and experience what life would have been like without my white, middle-class family. The second is that in order to be elected to any political position in Chicago, you need “street cred”. Trinity had all I needed to launch my career.
It wasn't all about politics, and I bonded with a man who brought me into a loving black experience where we truly tried to raise the standards of blacks in America. Barry should have never thrown Grandma under the bus, but should have stressed how much his grandmother wanted him to make a difference for all Americans. How supportive she is and what a great old dame she was and is.
He should have said, “While I love Pastor Wright and my Grandmother very, very much, they are the past and I am the future. I'm ready to lead this country into the next phase of American Greatness and with your support, yada, yada, yada.
He blew it. His explanation was lame and his other leftist connections have tarnished his bright star on the horizon. He needs to own it and shut up from here on out. Anymore he says will only make it worse.
It's out there for the American public and they will ultimately decide who's fit to lead.
Conversation on race = elect me or face race riots.
The PC response is to say how eloquent and powerful Obama’s speech was. You even here right side commentators spouting that.
Gimme a break. The speech was pure BS. Talk about being bamboozled
You just gave me a new tagline. Thanks!
That there will be race riots if BHO fails to become president is certain but I would prefer the riots be triggered by his loss of the nomination rather than by his defeat in the general election. An assassination attempt on one of the candidates is a very real possibility however it turns out and no matter which of the three possible candidates wins it will be a loss for conservatives.
I fear nothing good can come of this election.
As the guy from The Collins Report said, “Heartland America heard the speech and was not moved.”
Oh well..much like an old wife on a cold night, McCain is better than nothing.
Buck up..I think Clinton will pull out the nomination, blacks will sit out the election, McCain will pick a good conservative as VP - say Mitt - and have a stroke while giving his inaugural address. It could happen.
