UNDER THE RADAR, SOME POSITIVE POLLING [For the President!]
By Kenneth T. Walsh
Posted March 14, 2008

White House strategists are feeling a new rush of optimism about President Bush’s remaining 10 months in office. One reason is a new internal Republican poll, obtained by U.S. News, which indicates that while Bush’s job-approval ratings remain low, some of his major policies have become quite popular. If Bush and his surrogates can make the policies better known, GOP strategists believe that will lift not only Bush’s approval ratings but the overall standing of his party.

What has the West Wing buzzing is a survey by GOP pollster Ed Goeas of the Tarrance Group that found that, for all his troubles, voters still like the president. “Fully 56 percent of likely voters approve of the president personally, driven by voter sentiments that he is a person of strong moral character and integrity,” Goeas writes in a private analysis designed for Republican leaders. “If the situation in Iraq continues to improve and the national economy improves, this goodwill will be crucial in allowing voters to change their assessment of his job performance.”

About 64 percent of likely voters approve of Bush’s economic stimulus package passed earlier this year; 67 percent back his initiatives to help struggling homeownerssurvive the current mortgage crisis; 70 percent endorse his plan to allow monitoring of foreign communications of suspected terrorists; and 72 percent back his visit to the Mideast to promote peace. In addition, 52 percent approve of his surge of U.S. troops into Iraq.

. . . Goeas argues that his findings should encourage GOP candidates to defend Bush’s record and invite the president to campaign and raise money for them. [We Dosers been saying this all along!!!] Not surprisingly, Democratic strategists are convinced that Bush will be a drag on the GOP. Bring it on, they say. [I say we give them what they want!!!]

IRAQ, FIVE YEARS ON
By INVESTOR’S BUSINESS DAILY

The Anniversary: Five years after the start of the war in Iraq, it’s become common wisdom — among mainstream media and Beltway pundits, anyway — that it’s all been a failure. They couldn’t be more wrong.

This is a MUST save editorial: It’s chock full of facts and figures that will destroy any agrument that an anti-America/anti-war/anti-military/anti-Bush nut may shoot at you!

DrDeb, thank you for your post on the poll. Uplifting.
Kaslin, thank you for your posting of the Dose. Much needed Sanity Island tonight.
The President’s speech today, on the fifth anniversary of the war, was wonderful.
He is a great man and I can not imagine the White House with any of the cast of characters that are running now.

Once again, the President got emotional when discussing the courage and sacrifice of his troops — This is a Commander-in-Chief that gets it! [The troops are REALLY going to miss him!]

Isn’t it odd that Positive Polling is always “under the radar” where this president is concerned. The MSM is so intent on making him look bad that good news never makes it to anyone’s attention!

Had more candidates (and the entire Party) done this in 2006, Republicans would still hold the House and the Senate!

Thanks, Kaslin, for all the great pictures of our president!

I did wear red, white and blue to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the war, as Kristinn suggested on his thread.

It made me feel really good to do so...to support our troops
and the president!

Exactly.
