Election '08: Rather than break ties with his demagogic, anti-American pastor, Barack Obama used a speech on race to excuse his behavior and sweep the controversy under the rug. Passing the buck is not very presidential.
Speaking in Philadelphia, steps away from where the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were enacted, the front-runner for the Democratic nomination for president delivered an address that used the words "race" or "races" 11 times, "racial" or "racially" 15 times, and "racism" or "racist" six times.
But Obama's recent troubles, which this much-hyped speech was supposed to put past him, are not about race relations. They're about one churchman who happens to be black, whose views from the pulpit are repugnant and from whom Obama doesn't seem to have the guts to distance himself.
Reacting to being linked with a bigoted conspiracy theorist by lecturing the nation on race is like disgraced ex-New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer responding to his getting caught patronizing an international prostitution ring by giving a speech on the female physique.
The supposed divide between black and white is not the issue here; Obama's longtime association with Jeremiah Wright is.
[Snip]
Obama's speech was spent explaining and rationalizing hate such as Wright's rather than denouncing it. Wright's words "reflect the complexities of race in this country that we've never really worked through," the result of which has been "a cycle of violence, blight and neglect" still haunting America.
The solutions? Expanded government for one, of course.

IMHO, the entire editorial is worth a read.
Obama’s speech is 4,916 words long. When a person has to take that many words to explain himself on a single, straightforward subject, you know his explanation is pure BS.
Agree........ Even small children were seen rolling their eyes and saying such as bulllllllllllllllsh*t as he tap danced around that racist POS’s rants.
doom on em !
I’ve never seen Mr. Obama next to so many American flags in one place at one time.
At least he got that part right.
The rest of the story? Uh, my pastor for 20 years was a racist because there has been a historical problem of racism in this country.
And he’s just a part of that problem, God love him.
Now white people when they are racist that’s not funny.
But when black people are racist? Turn the other cheek.
I will not lower myself to address the racist behavior of my Uncle Pastor and that’s just what its going to take to bring this country together over race.
A big Bill Cosby “RIIIIIIIIGGGGGGHHHHHT”
You don’t choose an uncle, obsama choose this scumbucket and kept him ...... No change after 1
No change after 2
No change after 4
No change after 8
No change after 16
No change after EVEN 20 YEARS
Where’s the CHANGE?
“C’mon. Can’t we get past this racial divisivness, and get back to talking about the important issues, like hope, and change, and hoping for change, and changing our hopes, and changing for change, and having the audacity to hope for change? Let’s get back to being the change, and embracing our hopes. Can’t we change the subject? I certainly hope so.”
This is like the “depends on the what the definition of is, is” moment for BJ.....only now it’s “depends upon what the definition of “change” is for OBama....
“Wheres the CHANGE?”
The change is in Rev. Wright’s pocket after Obama donated $20,000 to his church on at least one occasion.
He’ll have to give another speech on the plight of the gay community after the Larry Sinclair story busts open.
Yeah your right about that Roger. Ain’t no mention of THAT change in his little stinkin speech.
And this picture is worth a thousand words.
I actually thought he would do a version of “I Have A Dream”. But instead opened with Lincoln.
“Pay no attention the the man (my crazy uncle) behind the curtain”..The Wizard of Oz
And I fear that most people failed to notice the total deflection from the main topic and got caught up in his excellent rhetoric. He's almost as good as Bill was. Or FDR or JFK. He's a great speaker, I'll give him that. Sadly, the media and his supporters are easily distracted.
It reminded me of Mark McGuire during the Congressional investigations “Let's don't talk about the past (my mentor of 20 years), let's talk about today (my candidacy) and the future ( what I can do for you.)
I fear his political “speak”. We have no one with his verbal skills.
talk about how well show our patriotism by caring for them, and their families, and giving them the benefits they have earned.”
More diahrea of the mouth from obsama. This is how you care for a defeated army. They way to care for a Victorious Army is by FIRST - winning the war!
oBsama is a coward and ignorant and a homosexual cocaine freak.
What a perfect analogy.
Obama talks alot while saying absolutely nothing
