The implication here is that a speech is going to offset all McCain's negatives. It won't. McCain needs to offset those negatives between now and the Convention. Some suggestions:

• Fire Juan Hernandez and publicly repudiate his ideas
• Name who will be his economic advisors, since he's obviously ignorant on the subject
• Put a hold on the nomination of Mike Sullivan to BATFE
• Oppose research on or use of embryonic stem cells
• Vote against any bailouts for banks and other businesses

Promises mean nothing. There's no way we can punish him if he fails to keep them. Positive steps between now and the Convention will mean a lot more than a rousing speech by someone who won't be holding the office of President.

I agree with you about Mitt Romney. His religion in America speech was great as was his withdrawal speech. He is a very effective speaker and even inspiring speaker. I can’t think of anyone else who would do as well. And nobody suggest Huckabee, please. Enough of that boob.
