It was extremely unlikely that Hillary Clinton was going to overcome Barack Obama's lead in delegates, states and total votes and take the Democratic nomination, but Obama's speech this morning -- graceful, thoughtful, nuanced, sweeping, challenging, unprecedented -- pretty much wiped out any chance at all. It was a speech Hillary could never have given -- really, few U.S. politicians ever could have given.
I write this not just because I think this will dampen the Rev. Wright controversy. I write this because Obama did an extraordinary job of presenting himself as the candidate of "the better angels of our nature," to use the phrase from Abraham Lincoln's first inaugural address. His speech isn't just inspirational to millions of voters who are tired of cynicism and division. I think many in the political media will see it as redemptive on personal grounds. Maybe they really aren't spending their careers in swampland.
Which not-so-coincidentally is the name of Time magazine's fine national politics blog.
Brace ourselves for a McCain Presidency. Maybe he'll invite my dad over for a few drinks at the White House (they were old drinking buddies when they served together at NAS Meridian in the 1960's).

Could be. The phrase used by the news media back in the old race riot days was "long, hot summer," because the inner city rioters got especially restive on hot summer nights.
Maybe hillary had better pay algore his carbon credits, to avoid that happening.

Keep on living on dreamland lefties. Your candidate is a LOSER who sits through racist black seperatist “G*D D*mn America” and “AIDS was created by Whitey to kill blacks” as sermons on Sundays! : )

Obama is losing his luster fast.
I heard about half of the speech, were we listening to two different speeches? It was one of the least effectual speeches he has made, at least, to those outside his base.
The speech was excellent to bring Dems and Independents to his side. They will see voting for him will erase any liberal guilt they have for their ancestors past treatment of blacks. A black president is their ultimate pat on the back for doing the “right thing” for all America’s past perceived sins.
Hold your horses, McCain will never bring this up and will disavow and distance himself from anyone who does. McCain will not attack Hussein he has said so himself.
A perfect example of calling the court case before the jury deliberates.

A very astute analysis. I’m glad I live in a 100% white community. But many of them are liberals in the extreme, as only privileged people well out of the fray can be. So who knows, they’ll bus in protesters maybe.
A simple commercial.
Would you trust a white politician that had a Klansman for a pastor?
Why should you trust a black one with a Black Panther equivalent pastor?

Hillary and McCain should have their legal teams all over the networks and cable news demanding equal free time.

It will be funny. Obama will have the votes but he’ll be limping to the convention losing many of the remaining states. Obama is a lying sack of $&** and won’t disown his so-called anti-American, Jew hating pastor. He has sown the seeds for his defeat.
Once the glow/fog lifted I only saw a politician throw raw meat to his flock. The stage is now set for a national RACE revolt if Barack Hussein Obama is not elected by his party and his country – the Revs Jackson and Sharpton are openly threatening the nation with a true uprising led by all the malcontents, anti-American, whiners of the world will take over. Obama is just one more politician who is one of "the most leftwing Senate candidates Illinois has ever seen, a me-too vote for Kennedy and Clinton to raise taxes and toady to the teachers unions. Obama supports abortion rights, socialized medicine, and affirmative action, and he opposes private gun ownership, against the "live-birth abortion" bill which was designed to protect live babies born of botched abortions. Obama voted "present" on an Illinois bill to ban partial-birth abortion, and "present" on a bill to notify parents when their minor children seek an abortion. He said, "I opposed DOMA [the Defense of Marriage Act] in 1996. It should be repealed and I will vote for its repeal on the Senate floor. I will also oppose any proposal to amend the U.S. Constitution to ban gays and lesbians from marrying."
Obama is a Socialist who is all in favor of giving welfare to anyone along with unconstitutional Universal Health Care…..this election is more about “do you want a Socialist country or a Democratic country”.
