(The Politico) "The hot-button issue of immigration doesnt appear to be going away anytime soon at least not in Republican circles.
On NPRs Morning Edition today, John McCain suggested that strong anti-immigrant rhetoric contributed to two recent, high-profile GOP Congressional losses of former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum, who badly lost to Sen. Bob Casey in 2006, and Jim Oberweis, who lost the heavily Republican seat of former House Speaker Dennis Hastert this month in a special election.

LOL. Karl Rove is smarter. Once the Amnesty+ failed for good under Bush, he told the truth about the polls-people were upset about the economy and corruption.
But McCain’s statement is perfect for the NPR crowd. Affirms their supposed non-racism, distracts them from thinking about the economic profiteers behind this wage depression policy.
Santorum and Oberweis lost because of the general anti-Republican mood of voters. Illegal immigration had nothing to do with it.
And I had almost forgotten McCain...
Yeah, right. I should just sit on my ass and shut up while my work goes to someone who can evade all the requirements the left has stuck the rest of us with. Well, McCain, this is me not shutting up:
BUILD THE FENCE. BUILD IT NOW. BUILD IT WHOLE!!!
Here is a second link (see above for first link) for another “Morning Edition” discussion about how “.....immigration debate haunts McCain and the GOP.”

Mine will be a write in.
DO OVER! Democrats AND Republicans...let’s start again, shall we?
Anything to keep the elites in cheap nannies, housekeepers, and lawnboys.
He’s got until November to build the wall. Then I might vote for him!
In northern states they do not see the problems with illegals like we do in the border states such as Texas. I was on the phone with a business associate from OHIO and he says they don’t have a big problem with illegals in the Cinci area.
Santorum lost because of anti GOP sentiment and the other guy lost because of Fat Hastert.
Exactly, JOhnny does not get it... it is illegal immigration.. that people do not want.... but JOhnny come lately... perhaps one day will understand.
Yup. Every time I hear Hillary and Obama talk, I think, “maybe I should vote for McCain...”. Then McCain talks, and what’s the difference? I will never vote for John McCain.
McCain’s position is somewhat reasoned. How can illegal immigration be much of an issue in the presidential election, when the likely major party candidates will be named either McCain, Clinton, or Obama? I think illegal immigration WILL BE an issue for a lot of House races. But what does does the RINO relic care, if he is in the majority party he sleeps with the minority and if he is in the minority party he will sleeps with the majority. With McCain you do not have to follow the money to tell where he is going or where is has been, just follow Teddy Kennedy and Arlen Specter.

So did Bob Casey campaign on pro-amnesty? I don’t think so.
Who does McCain want to vote for him? I mean really!
Open Boarders and/or Amnesty
Greenhouse gas cap-and-trade
LOST
“Green technology” investment
Not-too-good-at-economics
League of Democracies
Outlaw 527s
etc.
Why didn’t this man start his own dang party instead of
claiming the helm and trashing everything it stood for?
Oh! That's PERFECT!!!
Not going to vote for McDole. ‘Twouldn’t be prudent.
