Just 8% Have Favorable Opinion of Pastor Jeremiah Wright
Rasmussen Reports ^ | 17 March 2008 | Rasmussen

Posted on 03/17/2008 7:51:08 AM PDT by shrinkermd

Seventy-three percent (73%) of voters say that Wright’s comments are racially divisive. That opinion is held by 77% of White voters and 58% of African-American voters.

Most voters, 56%, said Wright’s comments made them less likely to vote for Obama. That figure includes 44% of Democrats. Just 11% of voters say they are more likely to vote for Obama because of Wright’s comments.

However, among African-Americans, 29% said Wright’s comments made them more likely to support Obama. Just 18% said the opposite while 50% said Wright’s comments would have no impact.

Overall, voters are evenly divided as to whether Obama should resign his membership in the Church—42% say that he should while 40% disagree. White voters, by a 46% to 33% margin, say that Obama should leave the Church. African-American voters, by a 68% to 16% margin, say he should not. Wright retired last month as Pastor of the Church.

The story became big news in the past several days and has had at least a temporary impact on public perceptions of Obama. Last Thursday, 52% of voters nationwide had a favorable opinion of Obama. That figure has fallen to 47% on Monday (see recent daily results). In recent days, Obama has also lost ground to John McCain in the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll.

Note the statistics on black voters.

Not at all surprised. I bet that the % would be much higher in the area that I live.

I would like to hear Bishop Jakes' take on this, though.

That double post is the work of one of Rev. Wright’s trolls, just to make me look bad. Pay it no mind! LOL!

Wright would have been better off claiming Bush planned 9/11.

Bishop TD Jakes is a well-known black minister in Dallas. His flock would be classified as a mega-church, known as “The Potter’s House”.

Until he refutes the ENTIRE CONGREGATION that is eagerly lapping up this racist rhetoric, his apologies aren’t enough. We must keep hammering this home....

Until he refutes the ENTIRE CONGREGATION

I'd say the entire theology, but your point is correct.

Wright is not some off-the-wall preacher. He is a highly effective preacher of Black Theology.

This is a separatist and racist theology from the 60s - it's the Christian version of the Black Muslims, and was designed in part to combat flight of angry young males to the Nation of Islam.

It's not "traditional African American theology" as Wright would tell us. It's certainly not the theology of a race uniter as Obama wishes to sell us.

Americans, black and white, reject this theology, and that must be the focus of issue here. Obama must be forced to defend the beliefs of his church as he chose them, not just Pastor Wright.

Just 8% Have Favorable Opinion of Pastor Jeremiah Wright!

Just What Did Obama Know About Wright's Past Sermons? (Plenty)

“Barack Obama either agreed with what was preached from the Trinity pulpit, or he tuned it out and stayed around pretending to for political reasons. To say he stayed for 20 years but doesn't agree with Wright's preaching is incredible denial. It'd be like a man buying White Sox season tickets for 20 years, attending the games, and saying he's not a fan.”

Obama’s supporters want us to ignore this story… just push it under the rug. While they’ll align Republicans with any obscure pastor who does or says something controversial, they’re trying to convince us that Obama’s 20-year long close relationship with Wright, including his effective endorsement of him, his church and rhetoric with a $22,500 donation in 2006 is irrelevant.

“When Obama decided against wearing an American flag pin, we may all have been a bit too quick to accept his rationale, too quick to find that issue unimportant. Now, that American flag pin has gotten a lot bigger for a lot of us, especially in light of what may have been and may still be Obama’s deeper, and, perhaps, secret, less than patriotic beliefs about America.”

“Wright says that blacks can’t be expected to sing God Bless America because of racism. Obama doesn’t salute the flag during the National Anthem. That sure strikes me as an amazing coincidence since Obama swears he never heard Wright say anything against America.”

“So almost 80% of blacks support this kind of speech. Does anyone see the 800lb gorilla in the room? Or are we too P.C.?”

Exactly, if seeing those videos didn’t dissuade you from voting for Obama you would have to be a racist, a fool or someone totally consumed by hate.

Looking at the statistics, remembering how many felt after the OJ travesty of justice, I’d say that racial integration has not worked very well.
