SENT TO KILL: Saudi Arabia is the single largest source of suicide bombers, who are trained outside of Iraq and then dispatched to fill orders from al-Qaeda cells there.
The summary went on to describe the majority of the fighters as having six to 12 years of schooling, with very few having gone to college. Most come from families in the poor or middle classes and have six to eight siblings.
"In these large family groups, individuals seek ways to `make their mark,' to set them apart. In many ways, entering jihad gives sons a way to show themselves unique in a large family," the summary said
US Rear Admiral Gregory Smith, the spokesman for Multinational Forces in Iraq, said the overwhelming majority of suicide attackers in Iraq are not Iraqi.
"Iraqis are religiously and socially opposed to suicide, requiring al-Qaeda to recruit foreigners to carry out their terror. Approximately 90 percent of the suicide attacks in Iraq are carried out by foreigners," he said.
In an interview, two senior analysts who helped question the 48 captured fighters said the picture that emerges is of a cold and calculating process that recruits young, alienated men who are social outcasts. The interrogators could not be named for security reasons.
If an al-Qaeda cell decides it needs two suicide bombers, it puts in an order.
That request goes to Syria and to the facilitators and recruiters training young men in North Africa and Saudi Arabia.
Three months later, the bomber is delivered, military investigators and officials say.
The US military said records seized from al-Qaeda show that 40 percent come from North African countries such as Libya and Algeria and 41 percent from Saudi Arabia.

How terribly tragic for all involved. I hope the Muslims take blasphemers to court, and this evidence is presented.
It also gives them a chance to die.
Frankly, I think that if you join a terrorist movement in order to "make your mark", you're messed up already. And if you really can make your mark by going on jihad, there's something wrong with your family.
I come from a large family, and I don't believe this implication that there is a corollary between coming from a large family and becoming a terrorist. Does it occur to the writers of this study that devoted Muslims are known to (a) have large families, and (b) go on jihad? Rather than one causing the other, both could have the same cause - devotion to Islam.
Perhaps polygamy has something to do with it. Since the population is normally split about 50/50, if you have men with multiple wives then you have others without them and socially, single men are trouble and this is probably especially true of the misfits that cannot find a wife in such an environment. Suicide bombing would provide a way for these men to have a “meaningful” existence and would also eliminate a few extra men.
It also guarantees the misfits seventy-two beautiful wives - or so they are told by people like Osama bin Laden and Arafat, who personally do their best to stay alive.
This doesn’t bode well for future relations between Iraq and Saudi Arabia.
Foreign fighters in Iraq seek recognition, U.S. says
"Most of these young men wanted to make an impression, but paradoxically they did not tell their families they were going off to Iraq to fight for Al Qaeda out of fear of disapproval," said Smith, a U.S. military spokesman.
More than half of the approximately 240 foreign fighters in U.S. custody come from Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Syria, according to figures provided separately by the military.
Smaller numbers were recruited in Jordan, Sudan, Libya, Yemen, Kuwait, Tunisia, Morocco and Algeria. In addition, several hundred foreign fighters are in Iraqi custody.
Many detainees told their interrogators that they were first approached at their mosques. Others were approached at work and invited to attend discussions at the mosque.
Once they agreed to join the fight, most of the young men were flown to Syria and then smuggled into Iraq by road, he said. The facilitators who met them in Syria often entertained them at nightclubs and bars during the months it sometimes took to get them to Iraq, Smith said.
Therein lies the key to the problem.
A female counts for very little in the Islam that the Jihadists follow.
If even an unsubstantiated accusation of, say, adultery is made - the female is automatically condemned to death - with a “choice” of becoming a bomber or bringing disgrace and death to all her family.
Her family does not resist, so she is without support of any kind. She is condemned completely.
