About 150 people -- those opposed to the Iraq War and those supporting it -- gathered noisily outside a Tacoma Mall office building on Saturday.

A group known as World Can't Wait had organized an anti-war protest to mark the coming fifth anniversary of the Iraq War. But long before their protest was scheduled to begin, counter-protesters arrived.

The counter-protesters surrounded an office building that houses military recruiting offices, which anti-war protesters had said they planned to "shut down." They shouted "God bless our troops" and waved American flags.

Hey, Navy! You have us both crying here!
Thanks for the uplifting story. I am glad to see there is still some decency in Seattle. I had all but given up hope.

Way to go!! Hopefully it will be the last we see of their kind. I saw the report on King5 and they did a good job reporting unlike what I read in today’s TNT.

I didn't here this because I was in the flag line on the the street side, but on KVI this morning the Organizer of the counter demonstration said after the protester read off the list of the Washington State dead soldiers, he said “The got what they deserved because they were murderers”, which caused a very tense moment.

Not that one. I think I still have a bunch of those Be All You Can Be freebie pens and stickers (from 1983) my recruiter dumped on me. Didn’t need no pens. He had me at hello...8>)

I'm afraid this isn't the last time they will do this. Next Saturday they plan on protesting in front of the Ft Lewis gate at Exit 122 on I-5 (The Freedom Bridge) Operation Support Our troops and others will be there in large numbers to counter their demonstration. I'm going to do my best to be there. I don't know all the details yet, but stay tuned to Kirby Wilber on KVI all week and he will provide all the scoop..
