Attacks on his church trouble Obama
Chicago Sun Times ^ | 3/15/08 | Mary Mitchell

Posted on 03/15/2008 12:29:04 PM PDT by pissant

When Sen. Barack Obama joined Trinity United Church of Christ 20 years ago, little did he know that the church’s charismatic pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., would become a flashpoint in a Democratic presidential primary.

Wright, an activist pastor who brought the South Side church from a 85-member congregation to an 8,000-member mega-church, has been under constant attack on Fox News’ “Hannity & Colmes” as a “cult” and “separatist” church.

In an interview, Obama told the Chicago Sun-Times that, despite the controversy swirling around Wright over racial comments he made from the pulpit about Sen. Hillary Clinton, he is not abandoning his church.

“We are still members of the church,” Obama said.

At the same time, Obama strongly condemned the racially explosive language attributed to Wright.

“The particular statements that have been pulled out of Rev. Wright’s sermons are ones that I profoundly disagree with,” Obama said, adding that he has never been at Trinity when Wright made similar remarks.

(snip)

“I have felt frustrated by how the church has been characterized and by the suggestion that this is somehow a separatist church and by other statements made on these talk shows,” he said.

“Anybody who has been to the church knows this is a terrific, welcoming church,” Obama noted. Trinity “is a wonderful faith community that has done very positive things in the community and also in my life.”

If my church preacher would have talked about the US the way that this clown did, I’d tell the preacher to go elsewhere or would disown every atom of that church’s existence.

Obama won’t do either. It tells you that he’s hiding something.

the Marxism and the southern tent preacher style is a natural combination because they both use the same crowd control techniques to promote their own interests.

Thr RATS are tying themselves in knots defending this racist, treasonous scumbag. Alan colmes nearly gave himself a stroke last night shouting and screaming, trying to change the subject to McCain. And did anybody see the two racist black women O’reilly had on? They were racist AmeriKKa-haters just like Obama’s “pastor”. I’m enjoying watching the RATS try to defend this racist crap without offending their captive black voting block.

(IF LOVIN' THE U.S. IS WRONG) I DON'T WANT TO HEAR WRIGHT
Tune: "(If Lovin' You Is Wrong) I Don't Want to Be Right" Original

If lovin' the U.S. is wrong
I don't want to hear Wright
If joinin' his church means hearin' his hatred
I'd up and change belongin' tonight

Obama, your pastor says it's a shame
It's a downright disgrace
America's problems, all the blame
Is the fault of the white man's race

Barack, you say it's the future
And healing is in your plan
But if you can't leave this kind of hate
Believe me, yes we can

If lovin' the U.S. is wrong
I don't want to hear Wright
If lovin' the U.S. is wrong
I don't want to hear Wright

Am I wrong to smell
The sewage he loves to spew?
Knowin' you wanna lead, then why do you waffle
Defendin' you know who?

And am I wrong to question
Your ability to unite,
Knowin' you got someone there at church
Dividin' black and white?

And are you wrong to give your tithe
To a racist man?
And is he wrong for tryin' to get God
Not to bless but instead to damn?

If lovin' the U.S. is wrong
I don't want to hear Wright
If lovin' the U.S. is wrong
I don't want to hear Wright . . .

Are you wrong to give your tithe
To a racist man?
And is he wrong for tryin' to get God
Not to bless but instead to damn?

If lovin' the U.S. is wrong
I don't want to hear Wright
If lovin' the U.S. is wrong
I don't want to hear Wright

I don't want to hear Wright
If it means hearin' his hatred
I don't want to hear Wright
If it means black against white . . .

This judge says, bring it on Otis.

He's exactly what the non-assimilating blacks need. Another jesse james jackson, demanding payola from successful businesses.

They best be sure to burn down their own areas, because they sure won't fair well in others.

I think it is funny that the Democrats are getting a taste of the political tactics THEY’VE been using for years - linking Republican candidates to the general views of their religions or churches (regarding gay rights, women’s issues (birth control/abortion), etc.)

Very entertaining.

All this has just convinced many about something they only suspected before, that the large majority of blacks really hate America. After all, their ancestors were first brought here as slaves, so their hate for ALL whites is always just under the surface. Bill C. thought he was loved by blacks, but he has received a sudden education about what it is all about to be black in America according to those who hate. They probably secretly loath his office digs in Harlem. Phoney symbolism to them, right? And Barack’s spiritual advisor and friend is perhaps the biggest hater and racist of all. It makes one think twice about whether Oprah has been genuine all this time too.

Alan colmes nearly gave himself a stroke last night shouting and screaming

You disrespect him nicely by failing to capitalize his name.

Is that really the best way to do the job?

Speaking of being disingenuous and referring to his "name," an interesting fact has been reported as such:

According to a January 12, 2004, Copley News Service article:

"In an interview last week, Obama said he decided to call himself Barack -- a Swahili derivative of Arabic that means 'blessed,' as 'baruch' does in Hebrew -- after his father died."

Interestingly, in his Democratic National Convention speech (2004)Obama stated that:

"My parents shared not only an improbable love, they shared an abiding faith in the possibilities of this nation. They would give me an African name, Barack, or blessed, believing that in a tolerant America your name is no barrier to success.

Okay, Barack ("Peace Be Upon His Middle No Name") Obama, which one is correct?

Which version were you for, before you were against, before you were for it?

Obama still doesn't get it. It's not just the pastor he has to disavow, it's the Church. The films clearly show that Wright's racist rantings about 911, Hillary's race, and America inventing AIDS are enthusiastically received and applauded by most,if not all, the parishioners. It's clearly a church OF racist America haters and a church FOR racist America haters. Obama’s distancing himself from Wright is akin to a Klan member disavowing the Grand Wizard while continuing to attend meetings of the local Klan chapter. He's over. Can't even be Hillary's VP now.

Exactly right. This preacher style is a mind control technique. The minute I heard this Obamanation on Fox, I saw Jim Jones, David Koresh, Marshall Applewhite (Heaven's Gate Cult), and the Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh all wrapped into one unit. The worrisome thing is that this cult manipulation has as its basis, Marxism.

Once we root the Marxist nature of Obama, we will have the death blow to his candidacy. The only thing is, we need to keep him in long enough for the DemonRAT convention. That way, he can deplete Hitlary’s war chest.

For Obama to DEFEND the hate filled racist anti-America and Marxist anti-Semitic crap that flowed from the former Pastor — must mean that Obama supports the theology that appears to have be the dominant theme....

It’s not the “church” being attacked — it’s what the church appears to stand for that is being attacked, as it SHOULD be in America.

Obama is CLEARLY an incorrigible Leftist, Racist and Anti-America as it stands —— since he is ALWAYS talking about CHANGING America....

The BEST change for America, is if Obama and the rest of the racist Anti-American Leftists and Blacks who think like him — LEAVE, and go where they believe Leftists and Blacks have a better quality of life.

If these dangerous $^%$#%^#^ represent what blacks have become in America - then must I become a racist myself, as a self defense measure.

No! I would rather THESE %^%^#$^ be “called out” and held in CONTEMPT by ALL Society......for the lying self serving charlatans that they are.

I’m sure that Morris Dees, from the “Southern Poverty Law Center,” will be hosting a news conference any day now to condemn the vile, racist rantings of the “reverend” White.

Is that the sound of crickets I hear? sarc/
