Obama says his pastor 'pained and angered me' 'Denounces' anti-American, racist rhetoric, insists he never heard such talk in person
Responding to mounting controversy over radical anti-American and racist statements by his pastor, Sen. Barack Obama issued a statement today to the Christian Broadcasting Network saying he strongly condemns and denounces remarks by Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. that disparaged the country or degraded people.
Obama referred to the "firestorm over the last few days" from unearthed video segments of Wright's sermons that the senator described as "some inflammatory and appalling remarks he made about our country, our politics, and my political opponents."
The front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination said he was not in attendance when Wright made any of the statements and never heard such talk in private conversations.
"Let me say at the outset that I vehemently disagree and strongly condemn the statements that have been the subject of this controversy," Obama said. "I categorically denounce any statement that disparages our great country or serves to divide us from our allies. I also believe that words that degrade individuals have no place in our public dialogue, whether it's on the campaign stump or in the pulpit. In sum, I reject outright the statements by Rev. Wright that are at issue."
Late today, Wright stepped down from his formal role in Obama's campaign, as a member of his African American Religious Leadership Committee, said the Politico's Ben Smith, citing campaign spokesman Tommy Vietor.

This is just getting better and better!
The only time they love us is when we are dying, as on 9/11.
Who in their right mind would be a member of such a political party?
Leaving the church would be the logical thing to do, when you’re pained and angered by the sermons.
Obama must have a tendency to doze off during the sermons...and sleep veeeeeeeeery soundly!
“Because even Goebbels and Himmler eventually got to power.
Tell me the difference between Wright and Hitlers guttural rants?.”
Rev. Wright Macht Frei.
As an American of Sicilian descent, I couldn’t agree more.
fyi I have heard Obama is coming to Indiana. To Plainfield.
They have a huge Muslim population in Plainfield.
Wright is even lighter skinned than Barak. He’s maybe 1/4 black. Is this another case of overcompensation, “proving” his blackness by spewing anti-white hatred? Is this what kept Barak in the pews, also “proving” his blackness?
Ive noticed something... when bill clinton lies, he raises his eyebrows. When hillary lies, she raises her voice. When obama lies, he opens his mouth.
Travis, you hit the bullseye! I’ve said for years that so many black radicals who are light skinned have a psychological need to prove they belong in the black community. Many were possibly teased by darker skinned blacks when they were kids, as not being really black. One way of gaining their acceptance is to act “super-black” in a sense. I have known many light skinned, mixed race blacks who are extreme in their black nationalist views. What better way to prove your blackness than by advocating every radical view in the black nationalist agenda.
I tried to Google around for any online repositories of Obama's schedule during that time period (he was a state senator), and had no luck. I'm wondering if anyone on FR might have the ability/acumen to figure out how to access any records that might indicate whether Obama was "in town" that weekend.
To me this isn't an issue about when Obama will leave his church. I think it is easy to get caught up in moving from one church to another, as a way of addressing (or rather, not addressing) issues of sin a person has become aware of. Instead of taking a stand, such as going to the Pastor and/or Deacons of the church to challenge them concerning their obligation to ensure that only sound and fit doctrine is preached from the pulpit, it's much easier to just leave....move on to another church until the next time the human sins within are revealed, indicating it's time to move on again.
I don't believe this is how Christ intends the church to be. We are accountable one unto another, from the lowliest to the greatest position. I have never sat in my church listening to a leader go astray without then privately taking my concern to that person. If the situation remains unresolved then it is my spiritual obligation to my beloved church body to bring the issue before the Deacons/Elders of the church. We are supposed to face and denounce wrong doing within the church, not just up and leave to let the sin remain a fester within the body.
Thus the important question to me is what Obama did, or is doing, to address this sin within his church body. There's nothing brave or biblical about simply remaining silent (until now that is) in the face of feeling 'pain and anger' in your soul concerning sin. Taking a stand within the church, to cast out the sin, is the right thing to do, anything less is not only unscriptural but cowardly.
Uh-huh.
Liar...
And add to Barak’s psychological soup that his white mom is a classic self-hating white, who can only live with non-white men? She’s a loony toons leftist multi-culti radical from the word go.
maybe Barak’s heard worse in person?
Oh, come on. Barak was in that church for 20 years, and he called Wright his mentor and sounding board. He named his book for a Wright sermon that’s full of anti-white hatred. He donated 22k to the church just in 2006. Barak was 100% in agreement with Wright, when establishing “I’m super black” street cred was of value to him in Chicago ward politics. There was never an inch of daylight between these soul mates.
And as far as the church itself, it’s no more “Christian” than the White Aryan Nations “Christian Identity” church in Idaho. It preaches that Jesus was a black oppressed by evil racist whites, and that Christianity is about these oppressed blacks (the true black Chiristians) fighting white oppression.
Like I said, it’s the equally racist version of the White Aryan Nations “Christian Identity” church.
exactly right on your post. Barak used Wright to get credit in this hate America community and now that he’s big he wants us to ignore a big power player in his rise...Barak knew!
