Officials: Boys Tried To Hold Up Police Station
Police Claim Duo Remarked, 'We'll Be Famous Now'
POSTED: 3:53 pm EDT March 13, 2008
UPDATED: 4:13 pm EDT March 13, 2008
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Two boys were arrested after they attempted to rob a Port St. Lucie police station and said, "We'll be famous now," according to authorities. Port St. Lucie police said the two boys -- ages 12 and 14 -- walked into the lobby of a regional station on Wednesday afternoon and demanded money from an aide behind the glass enclosure. Police said the 12-year-old hid one hand under his jacket as if he had a gun. Another aide ran into the back screaming for help. Within minutes, a half dozen officers, some with guns drawn, burst into the lobby and arrested the boys. Both boys were charged with attempted armed robbery. Police spokesman Rob Vega said the boys were laughing and remarked, "We'll be famous now."

They are just illiterates. They don’t understand the difference between ‘famous’ and ‘notorious’.

When the JQ laws abuse their authority, just as when politicians abuse their authority, they deserve to get called out. When they act above and beyond the call of duty, they get my praise.
I will never, ever be one of those "law and order" fetishists, most of whom were kicked off this site after the Giuliani purge. Nor am I one of those morons who sees the average beat cop as a wannabe brownshirt. Cops are given alot of responsability, and they should be admired when they excel in enforcing the law and OBEYING the law.
Back to the case at hand: these kids deserve a beat down.

I’m guessing “Raheem” and “Jamal” were honor students who were planning on going to college.

gang initiationIt sure seems like that sort of thing, doesn't it?
At least they didn't try mugging some little old lady (although they may well have done that kind of thing in the past)

They are just illiterates. They dont understand the difference between famous and notorious. And they also don't seem to understand that bullet wounds from real-world incidents such as this are not fixed by simply selecting "start new game" such as is the case on their stolen Playstation at home.

Theyre amazingly lucky they werent shot.Indeed... their attitudes suggest that their destiny is to die 'by the sword' one day, and hopefully they won't take any innocents along with them on that final journey.

If you listen to the scanner in your community, you get a real education as to just what is a step away from you and your loved ones. When anyone questions the Sig on my hip, I can site location, time, offense and response... tends to open their eyes. Is our society going down the toilet? Not so sure, but I’m not letting my family and friends be thrown on the body pile if there’s a thing I can do about it.

They’re at least famous in their community now, a legend in their own room so to speak. Having learned how easy it is to become ‘famous’, in a few years maybe they’ll take guns to school and become known nationwide. When will the media learn to stop giving stupid people what they want?

What? You mean that in real life you cant just pick up a medipack? LOL!Of course not! You have to swim through the lake of molten metal, climb the collapsing stairway past the Fire Demon, wend your way past the Angry Space Hussy and only THEN are you allowed to get the medpack. Sheesh!

Back to the case at hand: these kids deserve a beat down.Although I of course heartily agree with your sentiment, your choice of words reminded me of this ANCIENT video which has nothing in particular to do with this story, but is a possible glimpse into the sort of 'hood that these young lads came from.

Amen. Some of my leftern relatives, though they dont distain, they are curious about my carrying at all times. Thanks to the incredibly high standard of living that we enjoy here in the USA, there are an awful lot of people who live blissfully uneventful lives and who never have had any particularly difficult situation befall them. Many of these people simply cannot believe that violent crime actually does indeed exist and that it's considerably more real than "a racist fantasy concocted by Right-Wingers", as they will frequently describe depictions of the all-too-common brutality that is the norm in some areas and is at least an occasional fact of life in others.
If you listen to the scanner in your community, you get a real education as to just what is a step away from you and your loved ones. When anyone questions the Sig on my hip, I can site location, time, offense and response... tends to open their eyes.
Last time I checked, you can buy a scanner for around a hundred dollars which brings an unvarnished and occasionally frightening reality into your home. Many, however, prefer to spend thousands on an elaborate home theater system and then they complain that the movies they watch on it 'aren't real enough' LMAO
Is our society going down the toilet?
I'll have a better idea as to the answer to this question after the elections are over. If America goes Socialist, then I'll have to give a very sad 'yes' to that.
Im not letting my family and friends be thrown on the body pile if theres a thing I can do about it.
Hopefully there will be enough of us who share this essential attitude to make a difference. If not, then we are truly lost.

There were a couple kids when I was in 6th grade that one day decided they would look cool if they refused to say the pledge to the American flag. They said that they were no longer American citizens and were going to over throw the government. The school called there parents. I didn't get to see but I heard that their mother dragged them off school grounds by the ear yelling at them for being stupid. They had to return to school the next week knowing that everybody knew who their mother was.

Theyre at least famous in their community now, a legend in their own room so to speak. Having learned how easy it is to become famous, in a few years maybe theyll take guns to school and become known nationwide. As long as the "community leaders" continue to tell them that because of their color, America will always have it's iron bootheel on their necks and there is no hope for a better life then such an option may indeed appear appealing to those with no imagination.
When will the media learn to stop giving stupid people what they want?
When the stupid people stop buying goods and services from the advertisers of the programs that promote such depravity, which is not going to happen anytime soon.

I'm guessing that life ends up being completely different when you can name twenty drug dealers but can't name a single President (including the current one)
