Defense Ministry Director-General Pinhas Buchris will travel to the US next week to try to interest the Pentagon in the Israeli-developed Iron Dome missile defense system and to explore procuring the Skyguard laser system to protect Sderot from Kassam rockets, The Jerusalem Post has learned.

More money being thrown away. Israel loves to buy these fancy things to pretend that it’s protecting its citizens.
Why don’t they just use Phalanx type systems? The guns have been around since forever, the ‘70’s, then called Vulcans. I sure the radars and code can be tuned to see that most explosive 20mike mikes land back on the Palestinians.
I thought the Israelis were going to field a system based on the Phalanx CIWS as a way to knock down these rockets. Whatever became of that?

No, seriously, I am pretty sure I read a report on FR a few months back where it said that they were already in the process of adapting the Phalanx system for this purpose. I wonder what happened to that.
