Former vice presidential candidate Geraldine Ferraro today defended a remark she made to the Daily Breeze last week, in which she suggested that Sen. Barack Obama would not be where he is if he were white.
In an interview with the Breeze, Ferraro said, "If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman (of any color), he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept."
The comment was picked up by political blogs and cable news shows across the country. The Obama campaign held a conference call today to denounce the remark, and Obama surrogates urged Sen. Hillary Clinton to repudiate it. (SNIP_ But far from backing off from her initial remark, Ferraro defended it and elaborated on it.
"Any time anybody does anything that in any way pulls this campaign down and says let's address reality and the problems we're facing in this world, you're accused of being racist, so you have to shut up," Ferraro said. "Racism works in two different directions. I really think they're attacking me because I'm white. How's that?"

OMG! Geraldine is saying she's a victim of RACISM!!!!
The other interesting quote is: "Ferraro said the Clinton campaign cannot fire her because she is not an adviser.
"It's impossible to fire somebody who's not involved with it," she said."
But she IS a Clinton-Declared SUPER-DELEGATE! ROTFL!
Doncha just love a DEMOCRAT CIVIL WAR?
HOW DARE SHE describe white guilt syndrome!
Five years ago, rush lost his weekend gig on ESPN for making a similar statement about Eagles QB, Donovan McNabb.
#1 If not black he would NOT be in his position against a woman running for President.
#2 Obama is playing the race/victim card all over the place.
#3 If you speak out against his lack of experience, ideas and leftists ways, they make it a race issue.
The B!t<h is correct.
Call me when they're fighting this war with muskets and cannons and all lined up nicely so they can slaughter one another en masse.
Now thats a pot calling a kettle a pot...
Hey where is that bunny with a pancake on his head anyway?
Just saw a video of Obama on CNN, and was criticising Lou Dobbs. Obama called illegals “these people.”
Geez, never thought I’d like anything GF had to say, but there it is.
It may not be far from that...
If Clinton manages to steal this at Convention in a back-room deal (And I believe SHE WILL), the inner-cities are going to be burning...
A gaffe is when a politician inadvertently utters the truth. Ms Ferraro has committed a major mega-gaffe here.
2nd try......:o)
Adjust her meds and give her a cookie and something shiny......she’ll be fine. As that great friend of hers, Earl Butts, once said .......all < she > needs is a warm place too go too the bathroom and loose shoes !
Good for her!
This is the same thing that conservatives and Republicans have been saying for years; and to see a well respected 'Rat (and she is well respected, by many people from both sides of the aisle) say it, flat out and with no beating around the bush, is a good thing.
Funny since she cries “sexist”.
This primary campaign is going to drag the Dims, whether they like it or not, into the 21st century. At some point, the era of victim politics will be over. Once everyone is a victim, no one is a victim.
grab some popcorn..copy and paste this into a new browser so the hit doesn’t come from here..it’s full fledged war regarding this subject..

Actually, she is absolutely correct. If you recall, the same thing happened to Rush Limbaugh over the Eagles QB. He was accused of racism simply because he was noting how McNabb's race gave him a pass with the media. Obama is getting the same kid glove treatment, and anyone who speaks the truth about it is a 'racist'. This is pure thought-police nonsense.
Ferraro is right - a whie junior Senator from Illinois with suspect links like Obama has would be nowhere.
What is helpful to us is that these are Democrats gettign caught up in this. If it was only Republicans, then the media would be uniformly in Republican=racist mode.
