Chapel Hill, N.C. — Chapel Hill police Monday evening released two new photographs of a man they want to talk to about the shooting death of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Student Body President Eve Carson.
The photos show a black man attempting to use Carson’s debit card at an automated-teller machine in a local convenience store, Chapel Hill Police Chief Brian Curran said.
He did not specify when or where the pictures were taken, in order to protect the investigation. "The photos depict a male going into an area convenience store," Curran said. That man was the "only person in the store when an attempt was made to use Eve Carson’s ATM card."

I wonder do the college students know this. Is this info repeated around the campus and dorms. Did Eve and other students know before they hop in their big SUVs at 2:00am to run errands all about the rob/kill/carjack?
I seriously doubt it. These college kids are from other areas, and the "politically correct" universities, local law enforcement, politicians and news media do not want to mention such things as race these days. This is a fact of life in North Carolina.

I live in Chapel Hill. The part of town this girl lived in is considered to be safe.
My son’s high school friends live all around there (Franklin Street area, for those of you who know Chapel Hill), and when he’s home from college he visits them for get-togethers that last till one or two; I promise you up until this incident, we wouldn’t have thought twice about it, other than just a general “be careful”. Everyone is really shocked about this incident.
The gangs are out of hand, beyond the control of local police.
We do enforce the death penalty here, but they have to actually catch the criminals first.
Well catch them and quit whining about more gang legislation.
They need more funding. No one is whining, if I had my way they would never get to the jail or receive a trial. Maybe you other states should do something with your criminals and keep them out of our state.
So what do you think...In that photo (in the shop) he appears to have on the jacket of the second guy who had been in the backseat, doesn’t he? It’s WAY too big on him, which fits (pardon the pun) with the thought that the guy in the back was a larger man.
It ::almost:: looks like he could have the lighter blue-ish jacket on underneath if you look around the neckline. But he’s probably not bulky enough in that big jacket for a second jacket, with a hood underneath the black one, I suppose.
Wonder if he was thinking looking different in case he was filmed might throw invesigators off?

It was the same way in Athens, GA. Housing project right in the middle of campus, roving gangs of teens who would occasionally jump an unsuspecting dopey white kid and beat the crap out of him for fun. One or two break-ins/rapes/murders of coeds a year quietly hushed up. Two of my roommates were beaten by gangs as they walked through downtown Athens. I guess now they've graduated to killing.

.....they may have another chance Sunday should Duke-Heels meet in the ACC finals....but your co-worker is right; the other night that game had a national audience and it would have been great to run the photo....I think there’s a good chance the shooter is long gone by now....if he’s gang connected he could be harbored by fellow gang members anywhere outside NC.
I’m pretty sure I read somewhere the LEO don’t have reason to believe it is Eve in the back seat. I’m going to guess it is because of the unpublished photo time stamps relative to the time of her death.

Gangs like the Bloods and Cribs actually send envoys out to other cities to start up franchises (like the Hell’s Angels did).
This is nothing less than “Organized Crime.” I read once that in LA they wanted to enact RICO in order to wiretap these thugs and get informants. This is what it’s going to take NATIONWIDE at this stage.
