Spains governing Socialists triumphed in elections on Sunday, giving Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero a fresh mandate to pursue his agenda of sweeping social, cultural and political liberalization.
Despite a bitterly fought campaign, the outcome seemed to endorse some of Mr. Zapateros boldest decisions, including the withdrawal of Spains troops from Iraq, the granting of more autonomy to Spains rebellious regions, simplified divorce and the legalization of homosexual marriage.
I will govern by continuing with the things that weve done well and correcting mistakes, Mr. Zapatero said in accepting victory outside his party headquarters. He added, I will govern for all, but thinking above all of those people who do not have everything.
In particular, Mr. Zapatero said he would work to fulfill the aspirations of women and young people and provide more support for the elderly.
With more than 99 percent of the ballots counted, Mr. Zapateros party won 43.7 percent of the vote, and the conservative Popular Party 40.1 percent, according to the Interior Ministry. Turnout was high an estimated 75.4 percent of the countrys 35 million eligible voters only a shade below the 75.7 percent turnout in 2004.

“Thank you sir, may I have another”
Great graphic!
Yes, we all need to get behind the Dear Leader- Kankles or Ears.
I have never been to France. I am curious about your statement that the waiters don’t get tips. Americans are used to tipping, so what happens if you lay your francs on the table?
That graphic is great.

When I was in France (right before 9/11) we tipped and actually had quite good service in Paris. As far as I know, the waiters picked up our francs and put it in their pocket just like waiters here.
Out in Normandy we were treated horribly.
Go figure.

SPAIN is the first european country for the rates of immigration, illegal immigration and massive general amnesty several times those last years(most of them are muslims coming from or by Maroco)...
That’s how a country can be owned by liberals
los espanoles han creado un lio. que lastima.
Socialists? They might as well call themselves welcomers of Islamofascism as a rule.
So, Zapatero has a narrower basis for his coalition government than before, and some key defections will force an election to be called.
Good news for Spain. The PP is gaining strength.
Yep.
the outcome seemed to endorse some of Mr. Zapateroâs boldest decisions, including the withdrawal of Spain's troops from Iraq, the granting of more autonomy to Spain's rebellious regions, simplified divorce and the legalization of homosexual marriage.Have we ruled out stupidity? Partisan media shilling is a given.
I thought Japan had the lowest in the world?
Where’s a Francisco Franco when he’s needed?
Nothing at those places is remotely edible, is it?
My thoughts too.
Well, it’s the society themselves who prefer Socialist Party than the Populist members even with growing numbers of immigrants.
You should know that the reason Socialism existed during the Industrial Revolution is because of Capitalist’s ignarance on workers’ condition. By the way, who started the child labour, and without proper labour policy during that time?
Like Thomas Jefferson said:
“Democracy guarantees that people will get the government they deserve.”
The Spanish wanted to be wards of the state.
Marx and Engels are not really a pure Socialist but rather a much radical Communist. Although in some general though, they’re quite similar.
And you got that right, Socialism do have their own quality especially in public services where the poor won’t feel the hunger (in capitalist idea, the poor will get poorer and always will).
Although it’s a sad thing that Socialism were once seen as an idea of lower-middle classes’ freedom. But Lenin and Stalin has tainted the true method of Socialism and they too commited the same rules which their former Tsar once applied.
