WASHINGTON In the wake of last years failed immigration reform efforts, twelve Republican Senators today introduced 15 specific enforcement bills, each designed to make important improvements to Americas immigration system.
Each bill in the package represents a specific step toward securing Americas borders, increasing enforcement at the workplace, or restoring law and order to our nations immigration system. The coalition, led by U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), will call for full Senate consideration on each of the individual bills as amendments to any appropriate legislative vehicle or as stand-alone pieces of legislation.
The American people have made it clear that they want Congress to take action to limit illegal immigration, secure our borders and restore lawfulness to our immigration system, Sessions said. We cannot afford to sit idly and do nothing. This package of legislation represents a series of politically achievable steps that will make real improvements to our immigration system.
The package of legislation covers a range of issues, including completion of the border fence, establishing English as the national language, discouraging states from granting drivers licenses to illegal aliens and establishing mandatory minimum sentences for illegal entry into the United States.
Introducing specific bills is necessary due to the failure of last years comprehensive immigration reform legislation. The lesson learned from that debate was that Congress must secure the nations borders in order to demonstrate credibility to the American people.

This is OUR country. Fight for it.
Good, Sen Jeff. You see it as most Americans see it..
now if we can usurp the convention
The problem is that neither the sitting President nor any of the three potential future presidents will sign any such bill.
you are right, but forty one like thinking senators could block any silly amnesty bill.
Hey, even Bush signed the Secure Fence Act. They’ve got to at least pretend they’re against open borders every now and then.
Jeff Sessions for President
God Bless Jeff Sessions. A politician that gives a damn about our country.
OH, yeah.....Hillary and Chuck are waiting with baited breath for my call. Lest I forget Maurice Hinchey........I plan to vote HIM out of office.
Bill 11: Issue temporary work permits (Z Visas) in our embassies overseas after a 6 month application process. Require all non citizens to re-apply for employment using the new documents. This would create a temporary worker program as well as cause the self deportation of illegals already here.
Amen. He is a man for our times.
Our Country needs him.
sw
Last year, all the senate dems and a handful of RINO’s gave us a comprehensive amnesty bill that the president would have signed were it not for house republicans and a handfull of house dems which fought it off.
We had better stop the bleeding in congress this November or we’ll have amnesty next year.
You have my sympathy - but better to be right and in the minority than wrong and in the majority.
...correct. And that is why neither will get my vote.
Hmm...don’t see Cornyn or Hutchison on board.
BUMP!
Its Lugar and Bayh that are a waste of time, but thats ok, I'll waste their time!
Cute as a button ping
I know everyone is sick of contacting these people, but please let Sessions and the others know what you think.
