A longtime Republican district fell to the Democrats Saturday when a wealthy businessman and scientist snatched former House Speaker Dennis Hastert's congressional seat in a closely watched special election. Democrat Bill Foster won 52 percent of the vote compared to 48 percent for Republican Jim Oberweis. With 565 of 568 precincts reporting, Foster had 51,140 votes to Oberweis' 46,270.

Far as I know, this was predicted, and the long tern future is not looking good either. It will be 2014 before we can begin to turn this around, because most Conservatives are still holding on to their hubris, and the rest of the Republican voter base has forgotten what democrats actually believe and do to the U.S. economic system when in charge of the purse and lawmaking for more than a couple years.

A defeat of McCain, due solely to McCain-Feingold would place the tombstone on the RinoNC’s grave! not that I’m rooting for that outcome....mind you! Perhaps McCain knows something about McCain-Feingold that will give us our October Surprise magic moment!
At best, you might get a change of name, but that's as far as it will ever go. The idea that Conservatives are a large enough base to win a national election is a self inflicted joke.
This gives us a glimpse of what November 2008 will be like...it’s going to be a Dole year on steroids-worse.
It will be blamed on the war and on Bush.
That's the facts of it.

Platitudes aside, you are deluding yourself into believing that the 30% of the voting population getting a Gubmint check, and the 50% who pay no taxes, have any reason to turn off their sources of information/knowledge (public education, and MSM).
With the transcendent portion of our nation long since on the run, I wouldn’t bet on the current configuration of our country remaining the same or special.
We are most likely going to lose in November. I wish you would stop trying to get us to vote for your candidate by trying to scare us to death...McCain has voted with the Dems for years. You can’t make it go away. We conservatives have held our noses and voted for years-no more.
Try and win without us. Maybe next time, conservatives will be offered a seat at the table instead of under the table begging for crumbs. Reagan and Gingrich offered the lame GOP their only victories. McCain came in on Reagan’s coat tails and judging from his votes, was never a conservative. McCain is a terrible candidate. I know you moderate types were really going for Rudy, but you messed up and know you are stuck with an unelectable candidate-just my opinion.
My strategery opinion is that Obama is the more vulnerable of the two, and I have no hidden motives, either.
We are each entitled to our opinions on all the different possibilities and choices to make during the primaries.
Rush is one of my heroes and mentors. I just happen to disagree with him on this subject.
Rush is not tying his political opinion to any silly perceived "gains" for his program. Rush will be around doing his thing no matter who the next president is.
He and every other talk show host knows that the Fairness Doctrine will not pass the congress....and even if it did it would be challenged to the Supreme Court. They just like to talk about it.

Contrast that with how the Democrats behaved when the Republicans had control of all three branches of govt.
They acted like they were in charge (and, IMO, they were), and as a result very little was accomplished by the GOP.
Now that we're headed toward a full onslaught of socialism, the Republicans might want to read the Dem playbook on obstructionism.
Don’t tell me about it. That discussion is for those on this forum that are unenthused about having to vote for a RINO vs. a Real Conservative. If they remain unenthused and dispirited about McCain, if they jump the shark and vote for Obama like 7 percent or so said in a latest poll then they will have the chaos that they deserve that is my point. I can always go forward with a clear conscience, I did the best I could. They by their actions will determine the outcome of this election. I know who I am voting for and supporting and for what reasons.

I was thinking that Obama would be eaiser to beat too because of his inexperience but I believe Rush means to make the Democrat party implode it cannot be a clear victory for either Obama or Hillary.
Rush is extremely smart, I had my doubts initially however, I am starting to see the logic in his Hillary mantra.
He knows the Clintons and he knows that as long as she has any type of chance she will try to steal it from Obama and he also knows she will make a huge mistake because of the disenfranchisement that will follow. Thats why we are hearing this Golden Ticket rhetoric now and that may be more fun to watch then the party imploding. He said she said one will flip while the other flops its inevitable.
Perhaps, you're right. Many conservatives interpret events to match their ideology. They say Republicans need to stop then illegal invasion and wasteful spending, then Republicans will cruise to victory. But, the Republican candidate -Jim Oberweis - who lost last night, campaigned on a pro-border security and anti-pork platform. Yet he lost in a GOP friendly district.
This election took place in Illinois, which is Obama land. Most likely no on with an ‘R’ next to their name is going to win squat.
What the RNC should do is concentrate it's efforts on states and areas that aren't as blue as the Tidy Bowl Man. It's a waste to do so.

So which party platform is closer to your Conservative idealism? I submit that Socialism is anti-conservatism and the Socialist Democratic party of the U.S. is about to turn American into the United Socialist States Of America.
You see for some reason the Wackoo left and the middle seem to be getting along good these days. I don’t think its because the Wackoo’s really support the middle, the wackoo’s have not given up on their perceived Principles either, they all have their own agenda’s however, they have been out of power and are playing nicey nice so they can get back in power.
So you just sit back with all that pent up rage about how the mean old GOP tood advantage of us.
That old nanny state stuff is a huge intoxicant to the less fortunate. Because Liberals made it that way.
