It’s funny, but down here in Houston it’s been the warmest winter yet, or so it seems. We have’nt gotten within five degrees of freezing this year. We used to have a hard freeze or two every year. Now it doesn’t seem like we’ve had a true hard freeze as far back as I can remember.
Don’t let Algore find out. He’ll be down there in a NY minute, saying, “See, I told you so!”
It’s so darn hot down here most of the time that we really look forward to winter, and lately we wait and wait and wait. Still, even back in the mid-nineties I remember somebody saying: Houston, where winter is just pretend.
Up here in the “Pacific Northwest” (Vancouver, B.C.) we’re having one of the mildest winters in years too. Early spring, daffodils just coming out now, not a whole lot of rain this winter.
I feel for everyone in eastern Canada / US. But I seem to remember big snows being a regular occurrence in the ‘70s when I was growing up there.
I was in Houston last April. Went to an Astros game heading home from Padre. It was probably 62 degrees. My kids and I were in shorts and T-shirts, while the locals shivered in jackets. You guys are really wimpy when it comes to cold.
