The newspaper accounts included regiment information and blood alcohol content. Silhouettes were used when photos were not available.

A little humility goes a long way. Good job, General!
should be after convicted not after arrest. But then again you are guilty until proven not guilty in this crime.
I personally like when judges make shoplifters and other petty criminals wear a sign in public as a punishment for what they did, better than a fine and public service IMHO.
You have a good point, if they are found innocent the paper should then publish their photo explaining they were innocent and apologize to them. Better to wait until found guilty then do it.
MY immediate thoughts are to fire/court martial the General in charge of this stupid and insulting action.
Humility? These guys are heroes. How about some counseling some outreach and some spiritual advice before this bizarre public shaming of our heroes.
I agree...this is stupid. and of course now the NY slimes gets another opportunity to degrade the military. REal Smart..General!!! With Generals like you who needs a Public Relations dept for the military...?
Oh, of course, the NY Slimes will immdeiately print some wonderful picutres of army guys doing something great for the community...uh, and you will wait how long for those pics, General Stuck-On-Stupid?
The General saw a problem and he fixed it. These guy’s are still heroic, just screwed up. This is an effective fix, the General could have done worse.
No one should ever be humilated like this until they are convicted.
I thought it was a stupid move also. These guys are headed to a combat zone somewhere at some point in the near future. And while I am no war strategist, I would think humiliating Soldiers before they go off to war is a bad move.
Base newspapers have always printed names, convictions, and sentences — but after a determination of guilt.
Hmmm, let’s seen. Soldier runs into a hostile and corrupt cop (your typical type in some parts), gets falsly arrested for DWI, and then gets humilated by having his picture posted as a drunk driver.
Nonsense.
He fixed nothing! He has humiliated these heroes. He has allowed the drive bys access to the personal issues of our heroes. To satisfy his own ignorant frustrations.
No its not.
I believe in physical punishment.
Caning would be good for many PROVEN GUILTY AND CONVICTED perps. Most perps would remember a good caning and perhaps think twice next time. What was the Nick Lowe song, “Cruel To Be Kind”?
It’s also cheaper than keeping someone in jail or prison for $25-40,000 per year.
