since the CP views are in line with the democrat party, it would save you time to support them and post like minded views at the DU site.

For those of us who are in the real world, we will support the Republican.

[WRT your link on post #11 "The republic is dead... but it can be resurrected..." -Alan Keyes]

Wow. What a magnificent speech.

I would challenge everyone who lands on this thread to listen to it in it's entirety, and try to disagree with any of it.

Try as one might, there is no comparison between this and the insipid posturing and pandering of any of the other candidates. There is no comparison at all.

Reposted for edification and convenience:

The republic is dead... but it can be resurrected...

The incumbent was a Republican

There is a VAST difference between the Illinois Republican Party (and it's incumbents), and Conservatism, not to mention that it (IRP) had soiled itself in the first place- Creating the need for Keyes to go there at all.

To finally hear a presidential candidate speak without equivocation is reason enough to vote for Alan. You (not you) may not like what he has to say, but there is no doubt that he loves liberty and can articulate the principles that this nation was founded on.

As for taking votes away from McCain, any person voting for Alan isn’t likely to have voted for McCain anyway. He just gives a lot of us a reason to vote for the top slot instead of abstaining.

Since McCain and Hillary agree on more things than the CP does with the Dems, I’d say that you were allowing your emotions to over ride your common sense.

My views don’t mesh completely with the CP, but I have more in common with them than McCain.

I would be proud to cast my vote for Alan Keyes regardless of the party label or even whether he runs or not. He still believes in the Founding Principles and so do I, your histrionics aside.

Losing Alan Keyes is almost as serious a loss as losing Pat Buchanan. However will the Republican party get along without them.

Yeah, principled, well-spoken, consistent conservatism won't be much missed in the McCain "Republican" party, will it.

It's kinda like the Bill of Rights and our sovereign borders. Expendable.

Far less important than personal ambition, you know...

My biggest concern is having votes pulled away from our Repub nominee. Ouch. I was kinda glad hearing that Nader was joining the fray once again, as I’m no fan of either Dem. Not wild bout our “my dear friends” guy either but he is the better choice. Keyes to be the GOP’s version of Nader? This isn’t sounding like a very good idea... :(

If he does bolt, even as a 2000 Keyster, I won’t miss him. He’s jumped the shark.

"Good, McCain won’t be losing out on many voters."

McCain will be losing many Conservative voters regardless of who the Constitution Party candidate will be.

Dr. Keyes is infinitely more qualified for the presidency than McCain.

You assume (wrongly) that McCain has Conservative votes to be taken away. An alternative must be found or the Dems will win.

My vote is for sale.I want a hi-def flat screen TV.

LOL! You didn't mention that it should be 52" screen.

Seriously, after Keyes' organizations skim their share of donations for caging fees, direct mail postage, unpaid prior campaign expenses, etc., don't expect there will be money left from contributions for MCDC to build a border fence 2008 campaign activities.

I don't think so. I just see him going into orbit immediately. It's a shame because he's such a great speaker. I can't blame him for being frustrated seeing what's been going on. At times, I feel like I'm watching video book of Atlas Shrugged.

True, and certainly so in my case. I would never put my trust in the care of such a dishonorable and traitorous man. That anyone would call himself a conservative, and yet would entertain the mere thought of voting for one with such a wanton disregard for our Constitution, and for our sovereignty... I find myself embarrassed for such as these- Their disregard of the primacy of personal integrity in their leaders is the epitome of ignorance and foolhardiness.

I agree with your assessment of helping conservatives in their bids for the House and Senate seats.

If anyone is in Kentucky, I urge them to help McConnell as the Dems here are trying to undermine him (they run a website ditchmitch.com) and steal his seat. It's been quiet on the ad front, and I'm not sure who is running against McConnell yet, but I do know Mitch is a solid conservative with a high ACU rating, and he's consistent. I know last year there was a lot of talk of the possibility of unseating Mitch this year so I know he'll need all the support he can get. I'm pretty miffed at Mitch over how he tried to unseat Governor Fletcher in the primary, but he is a solid conservative.
