John McCain talks to reporters while in flight from Atlanta to New Orleans, La., Friday, March 7, 2008. Topic was his conversation with John Kerry about being his running mate for VP in 04. McCain was not happy.
Despite the press having talked about lots of rumors, below is the one I am remembering. I don’t remember McCain personally ever acknowledging that the discussion took place, that the offer was made and he turned it down. There were also rumors/stories that it was McCain who approached Kerry, but that was denied saying that maybe a staffer talked to somebody, sometime.

WASHINGTON - Republican Sen. John McCain has personally rejected John Kerry’s overtures to join the Democrat presidential ticket and forge a bipartisan alliance against President Bush, The Associated Press has learned.
(snip)
“Senator McCain categorically states that he has not been offered the vice presidency by anyone,” said McCain’s chief of staff, Mark Salter, who would not confirm the officials’ account.
Oh, shucks! You got unbanned? There goes the neighborhood!
Begged to be VP?
Well documented, think was in a Washington Post, years back, where it was clearly reported a call came late at night to McCain from a desperate (my description) Kerry, and McCain politely said it was not going to happen. "A bipartisan ticket would not work and could weaken the presidency," was how it was addressed. Senator McCain and Kerry were amicable, good friends, especially when McCain stood up for Kerry against, what he felt were baseless attacks. In fact the conversations were between Kerry and McCain one on one, with no one else present; so I guess you can believe whom you want to believe under those circumstances. McCain was anti-abortion and Kerry was not. One diverse difference in opinion. Some Dems speculated the aforementioned ticket would chase some of the libs over to Nader. Kerry's thinking was that this could definitely beat the Bush-Cheney ticket, which it might have well done. The Dems would have done anything to beat another term of the old Administration. Kerry had raised lots of money and donors do not like to LOSE! But never happened. Old "supposes" die hard; and were definitely DOA.
Down the road, it was revealed that even Teddy Kennedy had summoned McCain into his office on this political think-tank issue; and again McCain says, can't happen. Present election: Kennedy endorsed Obama, story of the VP request was recircled back into the media. Just political tales for the media to chew on. Keeps them from getting to important issues that really mean something to Americans.
Have said many times am not a McCainite; but this stuff gets real old when rehashed over and over--I don't blame McCain for getting annoyed at the ignorance of some of the media.

LOL!
Pic looks like a turtle stretching his head out of his shell.
You get out of Google what you put in..try rewording and will get much of what you might not want to accept. I don't rely on any "one read and return" from any of the common search engines. Google can be manipulated to achieve a desired result. If one does research of any kind over an extended period of time, they come to know that misinformation is all over the net; again, just a Google away.
The great thing about FR is that it is filled with highly knowledgeable people which can make or break a story from personal history, experiences, contacts etc. I think FR is a better knowledge base than any Google-Like (news) engine. You don't think that much of the MSM, campaign staff etc don't use Jim Robinson's FR for their own personal Google?
They do. Polls included.

LoL !
Made me look.
He looks like a bad photoshop.
He's the MAN. He's Pop Eye, the Sailor Man.
It was the other way around.
LOL
I thought so too.
Here are some:
John McCain's top ten temper explosions
I think the only reason we havent seen Obama on a plane is becuase he would fly it into a building.
Stop it. Your going to make me pee my pants. lol. That was unexpected and extremely funny!!!
“I saw the video and clearly McCain was agitated but I would hardly call it showing temper. I think they are blowing this up too much. Imagine the news media doing a thing like that. Ha ha”
Well, you “ain’t” seen nothing yet. No he was just agitated but he won’t be able to contain himself! Just wait!
Totally right on. This time it wasn't anger so much as attitude. And thin skin.
"Get off this site and over to your home DUmmie Undeground traitor. " ... You are either against the Liberals or not. You are obviously in the wrong place.

Looks like it was him that was obviously in the wrong place.
Yes, I watched the whole thing, did you? He cut her off and got pissed because she was bringing up him wanting to be Kerry's VP and then not telling the truth at the time when he said there was never a meeting.
McCain is a self-serving liar and a backstabber. Sorry he is what the Republicans have chosen...I can't support him.
I will vote third party for the best candidate that I can find. I won't vote for a liar and backstabber that I despise because he is better than the Dems. I would have voted for any Republican in the field this time except Ron Paul and McCain. I am sorry the Republicans picked him.
I vote for people I feel I can trust and depend on them that whatever is at stake they will do what is right and not what is best for them. When I lived in PA I didn't vote for Specter because he was always doing what he thought would get him the most votes and not what was right.
I will also support good Republicans down the line like I always do.
About 2 weeks ago this Dog and Pony whackjob told me to get out of the US. He also called me every name in the book.
This person is a danger to himself and others.
I hope he takes his nasty little mouth elsewhere, like to a good shrink! LOL
