org.whodat: "If you don't know about all of insane’s personal attacks on people and his blowing his fuse. The question is have you been trapped in a time distortion.

Actually I think I have read the remarks to which you refer once, twice.. ;)

calcowgirl: "Your link for that remark is www.friendsofliberty.com That same list is posted all over the net.

Org. whodat: You, who carries anger in a lot of your posts especially towards me in other posts/story lines recently (outside of today) is calling McCain angry when you have a habit of using personal "hit comments" against those respectfully taking on any debate with you? I show you respect and would hope I would deserve the same. You never give examples, just attack. Calcowgirl gave a reference for actual debate.

Many individuals that calcowgirl did mention have now endorsed McCain for President, so they must not worry about "his temper" as does the media and others who just do not like McCain (I wish the Repubs had a diff candidate, but is what we got).

Sen. John Cornyn (McCain had told Cornyn he had always been against this bill, and was always trying to derail it, so they disagreed on that note alone); but Cornyn, who called him hot headed, has backed him anyway. By the way, the chicken remark phrase was offered by a McCain ally in the room and that McCain never told Cornyn he knew more about the legislation than anyone else in the room." Media misreported.

Sen. Pete Domenici has recently backed McCain, the Bush family have endorsed McCain-are they worried? Must be like when you vote for a war, but are against it scenario?

Now Strom Thurmond is a whole other kinda "byrd" who had a history of being rude, derogatory and obnoxious with whom he disagreed. He had received more tempered "words" over the years than just from McCain. Remember Thurmond had tormented Thurgood Marshall, first black justice of the Supreme Court in 1967, at the confirmation hearing by asking 60 ar"cane" legal questions. Thurmond was also famous with the ladies on the Hill for his "predatory hands". As you get more senile on the Hill, you can get away with a lot more. Longevity has its perks.

Grassley made the media recently for going after popular TV Evangelists (you made note of McCain and religious leaders) on how they spend their money contributed to their ministries and which still are. So far no wrong doing has been disclosed by Grassley of those he singled out-which was just about anyone who is anyone. Just some did not like the houses they lived in, furniture they owned or cars they drove.

Grassley, had acknowledged the feud (POW traitor remark) back in the early 90's and said: "We didn't speak for a couple of years. Then, one time, he came up to me and said, 'Chuck, we need to talk,' and we have had friendly conversations ever since."..Despite the past tensions and the disagreement over ethanol, Grassley said he has deep respect for McCain's military background..."I might have concerns [about McCain] but as I look at five [Republicans] still running for president, even though McCain and I have disagreements ... McCain is the most qualified to be president," Grassley said, while stressing he was not making an endorsement. "I say that because I know him."

Calcowgirl intelligently offered up some examples of McCain showing over the top verbal fisticuffs with those facing differences of opinion on various issues. This is an issue that McCain does face causing concern by many, some call it temper, some may call it passion. McCain has always been frustrated by those that have never experienced atrocities in the world up close and personal, but safely played politics in the safety of their Washingtonprivate offices with staff to cater to their every whim. Armchair generals vs Action generals is an example. Those bleeped F words, not foreign to any language, are used, everyday on the Hill, behind closed doors, especially, open air remarks often sort after by media for a story, when anything of substance has failed..I believe the President has slipped once or twice ;)

University professor James Thurber said: "Senator McCain can be a little prickly because sometimes he has truth, and when you have truth, you push something very hard until your colleagues get a little tired of hearing it and you don't have the votes." McCain pushes for the votes on issues he holds close to him. I can agree and disagree. However, Obama often politically has ridden the fence. An example of just voting "present" when holding office in Illinois(once my state of residency).

John Kerry, who's relationship with McCain has not been approved of by some on the Right has said: "Lots of presidents have a temper and often Congress needs a swift kick."

Sally Quinn once said McCain could anger some one day and work with them on another...."I mean, he's an extremely likable person, and he's very admirable in many ways. One is that he says what he believes and he will cross the party line whenever he thinks that the Republicans are not on the right track."

You can like the guy or not like the guy, the remarks go back over decades. There are remarks in my life I wish I could take back, not as public, but were out of line. But human is as human does. You do the best you can with what you got to work with. Sometimes politics, religion and abortion don't make for fun conversation at parties. We definitely know why.

I think, however, we might all be right in one way or the other.

Thanks
FTD
