Obama Youth Logo a Crescent Moon?
ObamaYouth.com ^

Posted on 03/07/2008 8:14:36 AM PST by Vision

This is not an official Obama site- which has the endorsement of the New Black Panther Party- this seems to be run by kids.

Did the kids create the logo? Who paid for the merchandise that's for sale?

Hmmm. Those ears look.... familiar...

And the nose... The complexion... The tapered face to the narrowed chin...

Coincidence?

I think not!

I’ve personally known many 13-year-olds with computer graphic skills more than refined enough for that logo. And, as a group, those I have known were exceedingly politically active for their age.

Star and crescent

The star and crescent is commonly regarded as a symbol of Islam. It is featured prominently on the flags of many countries in the Islamic world, notably Turkey, Malaysia, and Pakistan. Critics point out that the symbol was not used by Muhammad and therefore has no basis in Islam, however it has undeniably become associated with the Ottoman Empire.

The crescent and star are believed to be the traditional insignia of the city of Constantinople (now Istanbul), capital of the Byzantine Empire. They were proudly adopted by the Ottoman Turks when they conquered Constantinople and put an end to many centuries of Byzantine rule. The Ottomans established the Ottoman Empire, which ruled much of the Middle East and North Africa for centuries. The Ottomans claimed to have inherited the caliphate and the right to represent all Islam; hence their star and crescent banner was, for a time, the banner of much of Sunni Islam.

However, some say that the crescent is ultimately derived from the cult of the goddess Diana or Artemis, the Greek and Roman goddess of the moon, and that it was retained even after the Roman Empire converted to Christianity.

I doubt it. The logo is too polished. It was done by a professional.

It's two circles superimposed on each other, the figures simple pen tool graphics. Anyone with photoshop should be able to reproduce such a graphic.

I am a professional designer. In my humble opinion, if a 13 year old created that then either that means she did the basic concept and a pro cleaned it up, or she has a relative who’s a pro, or she’s had very good training, such as at an art college class for high schoolers, or she’s a prodigy.

The site says the girl drew this.

Doesn't that seem more inline with a teenager than this.

That’s pretty good for a 13-year-old. I think it’s entirely plausible that she did the logo.

However, a search of the domain name turns up a couple of other NH Obama activists (including one I assume to be the kid’s mom) and another name to whom the site is registered.

Not really. Graphic design on a computer and hand sketching are very different. I’ve known people who made great logos on a computer, but couldn’t really sketch an image freehand.

That logo is not exactly a complex image.

Or the concept could have been borrowed by the youth.

Everyday that goes by I see the probability of Obama being elected as POTUS slimmer and slimmer. I believe this because of all of the legitimate questions as well as all of the silliness beginning to snowball into “Obama for President” as one big late night joke...

It is an interesting question as to who paid for the merchandise, and why they selected a logo with such an obvious Islamic “feel” to it. I wonder if there are any Farrakhan ties with this group.
