The Indianapolis Star editorial board endorsed Republican State Representative Jon Elrod over the late congresswoman's grandson Democrat Andre Carson.
Due to copyright complaints by Gannett the owner of the Star I will not post the text.
7th District Hoosier PING!
Thank God for small favors.
This may actually fall into the small miracle category.
Whoa, didn’t see that coming from the Star.
I’m shocked at this endorsemet.
For those not familiar, Andre Carson is the grandson of the recently deceased Julia Carson, one of the most liberal members of the US House. Andre Carson is a Muslim, and endorsed by Louis Farakhan.
He is receiving big $$ help from the national Rats with 24/7 media blitz advertising in the Indianapolis area, while the Republican Elrod has zero media adverts.
Your kidding! You could knock me over with a feather right now...
It also wouldn’t surprise me if Rep. Mike Pence is eventually picked as Senator John McCain’s VP choice, which would possibly open up Pence’s Congressional seat to a special election if not just left vacant until mid-January ‘09.
Given the great success of the endorsements during the mayoral race, maybe this is the Star’s way of getting Carson elected.
The big shock though is their un-endorsement of Carson. I may have to rethink my view of Andy Jacobs influence, I'll wait until fall though to revaluate it.
To Elrod's credit, he supports a graduated privatization of SS, which is something most younger people should support.
I doubt it, but that might get me to support McCain. That would be interesting because I fully expect Evan Bayh to be Hildebeaste's Veep.
Rep. Mike Pence would truly get me more than willing to vote for John McCain when I would probably instead vote for a third party conservative. IMHO, Pence’s problems include being another white guy on a Presidential ticket as well as Pence being on the same side as McCain on the issue amnesty for illegal immigrants. I would also be more than willing to vote for McCain if he picked either John Bolton, Sarah Palin (even though she’s pregnant), Herman Cain, Mark Sanford, or Janice Rogers Brown to be his final VP choice. Any other VP choice, and I would have to seriously question whether or not I would vote for McCain on November 4. A lot would also seriously depend upon what does and doesn’t happen with third party/Independent candidates for POTUS, but I don’t see them making any serious dent in the ‘08 Presidential race. I will truly vote no matter what on November 4, even if I have to ignore the ‘08 Presidential race while voting in all of the other political races. DON’T STAY AT HOME ON NOVEMBER 4! EVERYONE SHOULD TRULY WANT TO PREVENT LONG-TERM SOCIALISM FROM SERIOUSLY BECOMING PART OF THE FUTURE OF THE U.S. AS A COUNTRY!
