OK! Thank you .. keyword search works
there.

You’ll see I’m hoping we can have “search”
somewhere on the top of the Forum page, and
not have to go to a comment or article page
to search, which is how it apparently is now.

We could always search on the home page.

Now FREE REPUBLIC at the top is superimposed over Home, Forum, and New Posts to You. FREE REPUBLIC words are sitting right on top of the other ones, Home, Forum, New Posts to You. Why? It wasn’t doing it yesterday. It is today.

...the user post search

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Say you wanted to see all my posts? If so, click on my name, then 'in forum'

Alternately, go to your own profile page, and type my name in the top right to get to my profile page, then click 'in forum'

I'll see what I can do to advertise the search links. The little "go box" in the upper right corner can do user search and title search, but the way to do that isn't obvious yet (and I haven't solved that yet.) Anyway, title:article title here will give you an article search, and by:user name here will give you a user search.

You can also use it to jump to other pages on the site. For example, do:mail will take you to your inbox and do:pings will take you to your pings. All major pages on the site will eventually have do codes.

Also, the field is pre-filled with the code that will take you back to the page. This is to advertise the functionality of the box.

By the way, going to see about adding a google:search phrase here to perform a Google search of the entire site. Hope to have that in before bedtime tonight.

Use your browser Bookmark and toolbar folder .....then get up the Freerepublic screen options you use the most and bookmark them in a Freerepublic Folder....

works great with my new mac air. The track pad works just like the iphone. Lets me do everything with just two fingers. Leave the rest of them for licking peanut butter off the keys. I am fearful of getting spreading fingers disease however

I’ll see what I can do. I have only tested the site in the later versions of the major browsers. Older browsers or obscure makes may have problems with the way I am doing things.
