Nice work John. You kept the essential look of FR while incorporating some improvements and new conveniences.
The essential look should not be messed with. I think we all learned that lesson a few years back.

It is old man friendly!! I didn’t have to learn anything substantial, it looks nice, and I can read the Activism / Breaking News /etc. much better now.
Will you ever put back the function in "mail" that allows us to sort by sender? I really miss that. Thanks, John, for all your work.
Suggestions invited? Kewl. How about these items:
RSS or FReepmail alert for when specific thread is posted to.
RSS or FReepmail alert when a specific keyword is posted into a new thread.
Checkbox to ‘hide’ posts that you typically don’t want to see again when scrolling back. This would include pings to items not of interest, etc.
Private ratings/priority system for personally referring back to key items from time to time.
Option to do an internal search on your own posts for specific words.
Option to do an internal FR search (instead of Googling) for a different specific user’s posts searching for specific words.
Option to do all the above with/on the content within your Freepmails, sent and received.
Like the changes. It’s still much cleaner and easier to read than any other forum software. I thought maybe you had quit tinkering with it, it seems like a long time since last changes. however ...
1 - with the articles lists by topic in the sidebar, I can no longer tell which articles I have visited (the link color doesn’t change). was there a reason for this?
2 - are you going to allow advanced stuff like javascript and embedding Flash, etc?

I posted a thread about a you tube I had put up, and got only three replies to the thread
But the you tube went up to 60 in an hour or so, so I know there were lots of views (hit counter hits) to the thread.

Please make the ‘Free Republic’ Text in the upper left corner in a much larger font size. It is just a bit too small and leaves the ‘brand’ identity in doubt.
Also, could you please consider adding an additional ‘blank’ line(s) in between the last article summery line and the next major blue headline/article link. And maybe just one more ‘character’ space to the left gutter. It looks just a little too visually crowded...

oh, and how about user-preference style sheets (themes) like we used to have
It looks very neat, but I would love to be able to see my whole posts rather than just the “header” in the “user post” mode. When I post music, sometimes I need to back up and see what tunes I have posted. It’s awkward to have to click on each post to find them. Thank you for letting us comment.
