Dear Friend,
Last night, we did it. We won the Republican nomination for President. It was a long, up and down journey, but we worked hard, spoke honestly to the American people, and our steadfast determination has paid off.
As we come to the end of our party's primary contest, we begin what will certainly be a spirited and hard-fought campaign against the Democratic nominee. In November, Americans will have a clear choice to make. And I intend to fight as hard as I can to make it very clear that I am the candidate with the experience and leadership to serve as our commander in chief from day one.
My friends, I write to you today because I know we have a great challenge ahead of us. This campaign will be more expensive than any other in our history and I ask you today to support my campaign by making a generous contribution of $50, $100, $250, $500 or $1,000.
As president, I intend to reduce the size of the federal government, reduce your tax burden and win the war against Islamic extremists. My Democratic opponents will increase the size of the federal government, raise your taxes and withdraw our troops from the front lines based on an arbitrary timeline.
I have said before that this election will be about big things, not small things. And as president, I will make the hard but necessary decisions to lead our country in solving our greatest challenges. Today, we must unite as we face either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama in November. I ask that you join me today and make a financial commitment to help our campaign replenish our resources.
I thank you for your support and look forward to the campaign that lies ahead of us.
Sincerely,
John McCain
P.S. My friends, now that I have secured enough delegates to be the Republican nominee for president, I ask that you support my campaign by making a contribution right away to replenish our campaign funds. As we end our primary contest and begin what will be a competitive general election against the Democratic nominee, I stand ready to lead our nation as we face great challenges, and it is my hope that you will join my campaign today. Thank you.
What do ya think?

It’s bringing back some bad memories of LBJ. Didn’t he have a habit of overusing the “Mah friends” appellation?
None that I’ve seen.

Hmmm... I thought John was special; money corrupts politics and he wants no part of that corruption.
In fact... I’m a bit hazy on this, but I could swear that John McCain and some democrat (Feingold maybe?) championed a law limiting filthy lucre in campaigns. Of course it stepped all over my free speech rights. But his ideals were pure: he wanted the all-wise gubmint to protect me from those lustful urges which, like a child, I’m unable to control.
I’m confused. Now my lust to influence elections is OK, because JOHN gets the dough.
Could you please have John carefully and clearly explain it to me sometime?
McVain can go to the devil.
Not yet, but I’m not on his list. I guess holding out won’t help any more, might as well go sign up.
I didn't.
What do ya think?
I think John must've forgotten to send me one.

I know where you're hiding........
;^)
I added My Friends ,, it does have a President Bush and McCain hand shaking and smiling pic .
A) my request to be dropped from Republican Party contact lists seems to have worked.
B) Why send him money? In a wonderfully ironic twist, McCain/Feingold and the Gangrene of 14 have bit him in the buttocks and he is extremely limited in what he can spend before September.
I got one—received at 1:59PM from John McCain, john@johnmccain.com
That, despite having requested earlier to be removed from their spam mailing list.
I’ve been thinking of how to respond. ;-)
Well, heck... here ya go, Juan:
Now, don't you go spending it all in one place now, y'hear...? ;)
My GOP/RNC junk mail has increased of late but nothing from McCain either hard copy or electronic.
The record is there for all to see. My personal pet peeve is his frequently used “the party of Lincoln doesn’t always act like the party of Lincoln” passage in speeches.
I am not and never have been a racist or practiced any sort of discrimination. I do not believe institutions can be racist, only people. I further resent his attempt to (once again) appeal to a certain segment of people by villifying another segment of people - in this case the people he presumably considers his closest political allies.
In short, pandering shows little intelligence and less imagination. Any Dem campaign is based largly on pandering which says it all about their voters and their “leaders.” We don’t need it and we don’t want it. Show up or shut up.
