Texas Caucus Count Takes Wind Out of Clinton’s Wins (Hillary's been robbed)
fox news ^ | 3/5/2008 | fox news

Late-breaking numbers out of Texas’ odd two-phase voting system put an asterisks on Hillary Clinton’s Tuesday night victory speech, showing gains made by Barack Obama in the delegate grab race had all but numerically canceled out her big win in Ohio

Although Clinton scored major moral — and morale — victories by taking more votes in Ohio, Texas and Rhode Island, an Associated Press count of the delegates shows Clinton only reduced Obama’s delegates lead by 12 following Tuesday’s voting. She lost in Vermont to Obama.

In the overall race for the nomination, Obama had 1,562 delegates, including separately chosen party and elected officials known as superdelegates. Clinton had 1,461. It takes 2,025 delegates to secure the Democratic nomination.

For the night, Clinton won at least 185 delegates and Obama won at least 173

What an utterly ridiculous system it is that the democrat party has created for this whole process...

That utterly ridiculous system is in use in many states on the Republican side and is the reason that despite claims to the contrary, McCain has not actually sewn up the nomination (if he had someone running against him.)

Gawd, can this woman speak without saying “you know” in every sentence?

If I’m not mistaken, and I might be, She and Bubba had a hand in the crazy way the party’s nominee is selected.

Part of me is enjoying this fight, and part of me wants her gone FOREVER!

We can only hope the fight continues. Hillary created this long primary because she thought she could sail through without problems and build up for the election. I hope Obama fights to the end. The DEMS did the crossover vote on us is not backfiring on them. I am excited for the first time in the election.

It will be interesting if she wins the popular vote and Obama wins the delegates. Isn’t this what happened to President Bush and Gore when we heard the uproar????

and raise the age to run for president to 50. 35 was OK when life expectancy wasn’t that great. If memory serves me correct, we had a president recently who was 40ish but acted like he was in his teens...

Although I agree that it is part of the problem, it is a small part. I’m 54 and will never join them.

The thing is, the AARP is actual proof of the phrase, “With age comes wisdom. But sometimes age comes alone.”

But there is really not much wisdom out there in the under 35 crowd - at least relative to the over 35 crowd. And who knows? Maybe if the AARP really did see themselves as those in whos hands the future of the under 35 crowd was held, they may just step up to the plate and show more responsibility.

But I’m mostly bloviating. It, of course, would never happen. And it was really mostly tongue in cheek anyway.

We don’t need the Beast to win,

But wouldn't Hillary be easier for McCain to run against than Obama, assuming that she doesn't use him as her Veep Foil?

That utterly ridiculous system is in use in many states on the Republican side and is the reason that despite claims to the contrary, McCain has not actually sewn up the nomination (if he had someone running against him.)

The Republicans don't do nearly as much of the proportioning and caucusing (more winner take all states), nor do the Republicans have an absurd 20% of the delegates approptioned to the so-called "superdelegates", which makes it all but impossible that we would end up in the kind of bind the democrat party is in now.

And what is your source for claiming that McCain has not sewn up the nomination? Every one that I've seen shows him officially with over 1200.

The Texas caucus is far from over, though. Only 37% counted and it’s still close.

Not that it matters.

Right!

Should be against the law to use the words "Clinton" and "moral" in the same sentence.
