Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.), buoyed by important victories in the Democratic primaries in Texas, Ohio and Rhode Island, on Wednesday offered some words of warning to conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh, who had urged Republicans to vote for her as the presumptively easier Democrat to beat.

“Be careful what you wish for, Rush,” Clinton said on Fox News.

For the second time during this campaign season, the former first lady survived what many viewed as a potential knockout punch from frontrunning Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.). While Obama maintains a significant delegate lead, he was unable to seal the nominations Tuesday night, having to concede another two populous states to Clinton.

“By getting the most delegates, by having won twice as many states, by having a lead in the popular vote we feel as if we are on pace to get the nomination,” Obama said Wednesday morning in an appearance on the same network. “And it will take a little longer than would be true if we weren’t running against a Clinton, but we’re still going to end up getting it.”

However, instead of being able to focus on Sen. John McCain (Ariz.), the newly crowned Republican nominee, Obama must now continue to expend his considerable resources on the Democratic primary.

The Clinton campaign is seeking to use the breathing room the former first lady was given in polling places in Texas, Ohio and Rhode Island to map out its “path to the presidency,” as a memo from strategists Harold Ickes and Mark Penn was labeled.

Rush was also giving a middle finger to McCain and others that say he and conservatives have no power. We have far more power than we realize.

Obama has been getting a free pass up until this past week . Hillary and the media put very light pressure on Obama and he crumbled.

McCain is pretty quick on the come backs and far more witty than Hillary , he will shred Obama in a debate .

Now as far as the Dims are concerned , there are many white Dims who will absolutely refuse to vote for Obama . They will sit it out or vote for McPain to stop Obama . Not all Dims are progressive when it comes to race .

Rush's audience - by and large - are more educated, more sophisticated, and pay a lot more attention to the political scene than the MSM bunch. THe MSM crowd are "headline" junkies - all they know about the news is the captions under the photos.

The members of Rush's audience know and understand the issues, and if each one of these articulate fans talk to two other people, who also talk to two other people, etc...he could have quite a long range of influence.

You guys who talk about McCain winning easily are so wrong. There is a huge Dem primary turnout-they are motivated. McCain’s potential presidency is viewed as a third term for Bush -a very unpopular president. The economy is bad. 50 % of the country is against the war. Also, McCain is a terrible candidate with much baggage. If Jesus was running as a Repub this year, he might not win.

The Dems did NOT plan for a battle going to the convention. Previously, conventions were held in early July, not late August. Dems planned on a Hillary coronation in February, and the convention in late August to get her the maximum bounce in the polls in September. They weren't planning on a bloodletting on the convention floor. She was going to take her huge war chest, fund raise until late August, and shoot the money cannon until the election. That's all out the window, and many Dems don't care WHO the candidate is at this point, as long as they pick a candidate. I think they're trending towards Obama because he has a lead, but that lead is not nearly as secure as the pundits would like us to believe. The Supers are like a 10 ton rock sitting on top of a pole. They'll decide the candidate, not the voters.

An August convention is way too late to mend the fences, particularly since she was planning on running to the right to take McCain. Now, she's got to run to the left against Obama. Obama is a Chicago political hack with a good voice. The Chicago machine can keep him rolling in Illinois, but it is not nationwide. Clinton's machine is nationwide. Right now, Obama's delegate lead is about as safe as a 7 point lead in the third quarter.

McCain has staked out the middle, and he's not moving.

This makes the election significant for conservatives, because if McCain wins, conservatism as a political force is dead for a couple of elections. If McCain picks up more of the mushy middle than he loses from the right, the GOP will trend towards the middle, which is their desire anyway. Obama's success has pulled the political spectrum to the left. It pulled Hillary left, and is allowing McCain to sit in his area of comfort.

I wasn't a fan of McCain, to put it mildly, but I'm warming up to him a bit, and I do like his wit. I loved his comeback to his own slip up about being a "liberal" Republican. I have to admit that was good.

If Obama had won, the fix wouldn’t be in. But now that it’s close again, she can take the nomination, make him her running mate to unify the party and steamroll over McCain in November. She’ll take the women, old hardline democrats and union types, and he’ll win the latte liberals, blacks and youth vote.

Sorry, I’ve never seen the movie. However, I watched wrestling as a kid and I see it a little differently. This match is like the Steel Cage match and Obama and Clinton are in a death struggle.

Look at it this way, lets say that Obama won all four contests. Where would Hillary go from there? The pressure would be too much even for the Clintons. She would bow out within a week. Obama has raised unbelievable amounts of money and McCain is broke. What do you think would happen between now and the conventions? Obama would be bombarding McCain with adds while he could not respond. Is that a better scenario for you?

Why should Obama take the VP spot if he has more delegates than Clinton, which is likely.

Neither Obama or Hillary can win enough delegates thru the primaries. The superdelegates will decide the nomination. And Hillary can make the argument that she can win the big states (CA, NY, OH, MI, FL, and I think she will also win PA). The elected party leaders will move to her, and Obama will get the VP nod. I don't think this fight will go to the convention, and look for the Democrats to unite after the PA primary on April 22nd.
