Clinton: Be careful what you wish for, Rush By Klaus Marre Posted: 03/05/08 09:30 AM [ET]
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.), buoyed by important victories in the Democratic primaries in Texas, Ohio and Rhode Island, on Wednesday offered some words of warning to conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh, who had urged Republicans to vote for her as the presumptively easier Democrat to beat.
Be careful what you wish for, Rush, Clinton said on Fox News.
For the second time during this campaign season, the former first lady survived what many viewed as a potential knockout punch from frontrunning Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.). While Obama maintains a significant delegate lead, he was unable to seal the nominations Tuesday night, having to concede another two populous states to Clinton.
By getting the most delegates, by having won twice as many states, by having a lead in the popular vote we feel as if we are on pace to get the nomination, Obama said Wednesday morning in an appearance on the same network. And it will take a little longer than would be true if we werent running against a Clinton, but were still going to end up getting it.
However, instead of being able to focus on Sen. John McCain (Ariz.), the newly crowned Republican nominee, Obama must now continue to expend his considerable resources on the Democratic primary.
The Clinton campaign is seeking to use the breathing room the former first lady was given in polling places in Texas, Ohio and Rhode Island to map out its path to the presidency, as a memo from strategists Harold Ickes and Mark Penn was labeled.
In the document, the Clinton team says it is time for a second look on the race and the candidates and argued that the momentum has swung

No Obama would be much easier. His achilles heal has been exposed - foreign policy. That’s how Clinton came back - by attacking him on that. Not that Clinton has any credentials in that area but she will say her time as First Lady is her experience and incredibly she will get away with it in the general.
As do I. I fear that el Rushbo may end up being too cute by half.
With the remaining states it’s not easy.
Is that based on data, or is it your supposition?
And, given that Obama won more delegates than Hillary last night, what difference would it have made?
Do you have some facts to back up your assertions, or are you just angry?
Rush outsmarted himself. He just gave us a Hillary/Obama ticket. The women will come out for Hillary. The young people for Obama. Women are the majority and many women will register for the first time to vote for Hillary. So we get 8 years of Hillary followed by 8 years of Obama. This is what you do when you give evil a chance. We had a chance to kill evil (Hillary) stick a stake through her heart. Thanks Rush for 8 years of Hillary followed by 8 years of Obama. I see you support Rush’s stupid stunt and 8 years of Hillary followed by 8 years of Obama.
Give this time. Hillary and Obama are going to waste millions fighting each other and will go at it tooth and nail.
LAURA INGRAHAM screening calls...setting up strawman argument by only allowing Dems pissed at crossover Republicans.
Let the Repubs in Laura. A little defensive aren’t you Ingra-Ham.
Provided Hillary doesn't so offend Obama and his supporters by the tactics which she will probably have to use to secure the nomination, this ticket would be tough for McCain to beat. Not impossible but tough.
I agree.
I'm still a fan of his, but he messed up big-time here.
This was childish and stupid and unbelievably risky. And I also object to the idea that one's vote is something to game.
Yep. This 'fix' was planned before they got Obama to address the '04 convention. He's playing his part very convincingly.
This is Roller-derby 101: he blocks so she can get in, later, she returns the favor by sling-shotting him (with more 'experience') to the top in '12. By then he'll have to run on New Deal II as she will have wrecked the economy and possibly started WW III (or is it IV, I can't keep track).
Again, Hillary did not have a stunning victory yesterday despite the spin. She is losing. I think Obama may have won more delegates in Texas...he may have actually netted more delegates overall. Hillary survived-nothing more. Now I would have preferred her to be out entirely. However, she is not in a good position to dictate to anyone. She would be the VP-however, I doubt it will happen. The supers will at some point-maybe before PA move behind the candidate who can win-based on elected delegates. Do the math. At this point, Hillary knows the jig is up and returns to her career in the senate and waits for 2012. She can run again-young enough. If this was her last chance, it might be different.
Not true in my case. I believe Rush was fundamentally wrong with his recruitment to skew the election. This is the fellow who loudly brags he can be trusted with your wife or daughter. That he has morals and morality. I submit that the promotion to undermine the election process fundamentally violates a core value.
I’m with you. I wanted the beast dead. The Clintons are like those inflatable clown punching bags. They just pop back up. People keep telling me I overestimate the Clintons. Well, when they lose a race I’ll believe I overestimated them. I haven’t seen it yet, though.
“How can it be bad? Hildy AND Obama are on the ticket, in whatever order.
Thats likely. And bad.”
Read my previous posts why its likely not to happen that they team up. The only reasoning for it is party bosses pressuring them to team up. It’s not in Obamas best interest to be Hillary’s VP or to have Hillary as his VP for the many reasons I’ve laid out. We’ll see.
McCain didn't come all this way to soft peddle the Dims and lose the race . If McCain doesn't yet realize what he's up against , it will become obvious rather quickly . McCain will not let them roll over him , he is a tenacious fighter .
“Funny how Rush never told us to vote for any conservative like TAncredo, Thompson, Hunter, Romney but now tells us to vote for Hillary.”
This is the most pround statement in your post.
Eight years of the ‘Toons and then eight years of Obama, after he serves as her VP.
You just blew your own case.
Rush used to be more principled. I am disappointed in him. Elections are serious business-not games. He has succumbed to Washingtonitis-they all do eventually.
They won’t force her out! They will force Obama to name her as her VP.
As this dum bass stunt did yesterday was increase the likelihood that BOTH candidates will be on the Rat ticket.
