NEW YORK (CBS) ― Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton hinted at the possibility of a democratic "dream ticket" with Sen. Barack Obama.
Speaking on the Early Show on CBS, Clinton said "that may be where this is headed, but we have to decide who is on the top of the ticket."
Clinton said the race between her and Obama remains "incredibly close," with just "smidgens of difference" between them.
Clinton's remarks after her campaign won two big states yesterday: Ohio and Texas. She also won Rhode Island. The wins enabled her campaign to break Obama's 12-state winning streak and pick up some momentum of its own.
Speaking later on the Early Show, Obama congratulated Clinton on her victories while maintaining he would be able to wrap up the democratic nomination.
"We still have close to an insurmountable lead in delegates," Obama said. Obama said his campaign had won nearly twice as Clinton as well as a greater share of the popular vote.
Pundits, especially black pundits, are already speculating that the black vote will stay home if Hillary wins via the super delegates.
To avoid that, she’d need Obama on the VP slot.
See this?
I suspect that you’re right. Obama may win women and Hispanic support with this deal, voters that might otherwise go to McCain, but he has to watch his back. I really, truly don’t think he will live out his first term if she is his running mate. My husband, a Dem, doesn’t think so either.
This speculation helps me understand something I heard on the radio this morning. One of her campaign aides was asked about last night and he said that it meant they were not out and would have a voice at the convention. Then he went on to say “We’re the center of the universe.” He might have said world. My breakfast had a hard time staying put. These people are disgusting and worse, corrupt and evil.
A Clinton/Obama ticket worries me too.
That is why I wished we could have knocked Clinton out of the race yesterday.
I think the Republicans voting for Clinton have made both strategic and tactical errors last night.
I think the commies assasinated MLK for that purpose. He has been martyred ad nauseum. Although he preached a good sermon and made some positive contributions, he was in fact, a communist agitator.
All of you that voted for Hillary, all I can say is, “Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.”
LOL! First, a contrite Obama, ahead in delegates, would have to take second place, the VP position, on the ticket. Do you think his ego will allow this? Of course not.
Hillary put this feeler out there for the crowds to ooh and ahh about today. She thinks there might be a slim chance Michelle & Barack will say to heck with it, a VP slot is better than nothing and go for it, but if it does not pan out she can always say she held her hand out for him to grasp...
As far as the combined ticket, if it did happen, Obama is still a juicy left wing target. Average the negatives on both of them just today, before the GO hammers them, and they are both unelectable as long as GOP voters show up.
BO will not accept VP - he would let the Beast run on her own and lose. Then run again in four years. If the beast is to be the VP then BO better increase his life insurance. There is a lot of bad blood to clear up before these two are on the same ticket. BHO would never accept second fiddle and I doubt he could contain the Beast as his VP.
More likely she would be offered Senate Majority/Minority Leader. And Dingy Harry would take one for the team and step aside.
This country’s worst nightmare.
If Obama ever wanted to be POTUS, he would have no choice but to take the deal, if offered. There is no way the party would forgive him if he didn’t take it. He’s still young, and if he’s VP, he would have the inside track in eight years.
I never understood it. This woman and her husband are wicked. They need to be GONE from our political scene. That should have been yesterday’s task. We can knock Obama out in the general election. Let dems vote for dems and reps for reps, regardless of stupid state rules.
ha! I needed that laugh, thanks
why is mccain toast? i don’t understand that type of thinking. obama/hillary are beatable (IF that ticket happens)
A candidate who gets on a stage and talks about how a young man herding sheep in Kenya can grow up, come to America, marry a WHITE WOMAN (YES! he said this last night), and run for the office of the President of the United States blah blah blah.....is NOT going to ever get elected to that office.
I almost dropped my drink when he said that about marrying a white woman. Nobody has mentioned it yet today; so the Obama love fest with the media continues.
