Snip..... In what could be the biggest State Department scandal since State Department official and United Nations founder Alger Hiss was exposed as a Soviet spy, a top Clinton State Department official and former Time magazine journalist has been identified as having been a trusted contact of the Russian intelligence service.
Snip... The sensational charge against Strobe Talbott is made in a new book based on interviews with a Russian defector.
Snip... Talbott has been and continues to be a major foreign policy thinker. Back in 2000, when he was named head of the Yale Center for the Study of Globalization, he was described as "a key architect of U.S. foreign policy" during the Clinton years. Talbott now serves as president of the liberal think tank, the Brookings Institution, in Washington, D.C., where he gets paid over $400,000 a year, leads a staff of 277 and presides over an endowment of over $200 million.
Snip.. This is not the first time that Talbott has come under scrutiny for his alleged contacts with agents of a foreign intelligence service. In 1994, when he was being considered for his State Department post in the Clinton Administration, he was grilled by Senator Jesse Helms, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, about his relationship with Victor Louis, a Soviet "journalist" who was actually a Soviet KGB intelligence agent. Talbott had been a young correspondent for Time magazine in Moscow.

An excerpt from a New American article about the United Nations threat to our sovereignty, April 1995:
In a June 22, 1993 letter on White House stationery to the World Federalist Association (WFA), President Bill Clinton (CFR) praised the late Norman Cousins (CFR), past president of the WFA, and wished the group "success" in its long-stated quest to submerge the U.S. in a world government under an empowered United Nations. The occasion that prompted the presidential epistle was a WFA banquet honoring Mr. Clinton's fellow Rhodes Scholar and Oxford roommate Strobe Talbott (CFR). The Clinton letter, which was read to the banquet attendees by WFA President John Anderson (CFR), said:Norman Cousins worked for world peace and world government .... Strobe Talbott's lifetime achievements as a voice for global harmony have earned him this recognition .... He will be a worthy recipient of the Norman Cousins Global Governance Award.
Talbott, whom President Clinton had appointed to the number two spot in the State Department, was being honored by the World Federalists for his July 20, 1992 Time editorial, "The Birth of the Global Nation," in which he opined that "it has taken the events in our own wondrous and terrible century to clinch the case for world government." In presenting the WFA award, Anderson expressed appreciation to Talbott for his contributions "for the cause of global governance."
John Anderson. Haven't we heard that name before? The Republican Congressman from Illinois who ran an independent campaign for President against Ronald Reagan in 1980?
Wikipedia covers it pretty well.
Funny thing is she'll be right. McCarthy exposed spies. Real spies.
The State Dept has been a breeding ground for traitors since the mid ‘30s (at least since the mid ‘30s).
that must have been Taki....I remember him saying disparaging things about Talbot.
Close!

NewsMax.com 5/12/99 “...In another shocking exchange, Ms. Willey established a separate White House link to the encounter she had with a jogger who threatened her two days before her January 1998 deposition in the Paula Jones case. Willey told CNBC’s Matthews that she was approached at dawn as she walked through her Virginia neighborhood by a total stranger who seemed to know a lot about her personal life: “He asked me, ‘Did you ever find your cat?’ And I said, ‘No, I haven’t and we really miss him.’ Then he said, ‘Did you ever get those tires fixed on your car?’ And I said ‘No’ and that’s when the hair started standing up on the back of my neck.” Willey said the stranger identified her pet by name, saying, “That cat, he was a nice cat. Bullseye was his name, wasn’t it?” Willey added, “He asked me about my children by name. He said, ‘How are your children, Shannon and Patrick?’ It was a very insidious thing and it was meant to scare me.” The former White House volunteer said she was able to identify the stranger as someone “associated with” President Clinton after being shown photos by investigators. She would not publicly reveal her tormentor’s name but Matthews’ questions narrowed the field down to three people:... MATTHEWS: Is it someone in the President’s family of friends? Is it somebody related to Strobe Talbott? Is it a Shearer? WILLEY: I can’t say. I’ve been asked not to by the Office of Independent Counsel because they are investigating this. Derek, Cody and Brooke Shearer are longtime friends of the Clintons who have been linked in published reports to IGI, the White House’s regular private detective agency run by Terry Lenzner. Brooke Shearer is married to Deputy Secretary of State Strobe Talbott....”
Just shocked, I tell ya’

No surprise.
hmmm (rubbing hands together) this is rich
Some reporter needs to pull on this thread, and hard. Talbott is the Rosetta Stone for Clinton’s own unfunded disappearance behind the Iron Curtain while at Oxford.
Talbott and Clinton were roommates while they were attending college as Rhodes Scholars in London.
“Is the Pope a Catholic? Next, you’ll be telling me that bill clinton is a womanizer!”
Bump to that. In other news, water wet, sky blue.
There’s a shocker!
Anybody surprised by this, stand on your head.
Bump to the top and for later reference. Keep this story alive. You know the MSM is going to want to avoid dealing with this one!!!
I’ll bet that within the next hundred years..., nationhood as we know it will be obsolete; all states will recognize a single, global authority.

God may have something to say about that.
“..McCain Opposed Talbott
In 1993, when Talbott was nominated by President Clinton as Ambassador at Large and Special Adviser to the Secretary of State on the new Independent States (of the former Soviet Union), Senator John McCain took to the Senate floor to declare that, despite Talbott being a close friend and personal pick of the President’s, “I cannot in good conscience vote to confirm his appointment.”
McCain said that Talbott, as a writer for Time magazine and a commentator, had been guilty of making “mistaken observations” and suggesting “flawed policy solutions” on the matter of whether Russia “will evolve peacefully and democratically, collapse into chaos, or return to totalitarianism, be it Communist or fascist.”
McCain noted that Talbott opposed all of the Reagan initiatives, including deployment of missiles to Europe and the Strategic Defense Initiative, which had kept Europe free from Soviet control and eventually resulted in the demise of the Soviet empire. McCain said that “it would require many more hours for me to cite all the examples of mistakes and inconsistencies upon which Mr. Talbott bases his reputation as a Soviet expert.”...”
