Vt. towns approve Bush 'indictment'

By JOHN CURRAN, Associated Press Writer 7 minutes ago

Voters in two Vermont towns approved measures Tuesday calling for the indictment of President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney for what they consider violations of the Constitution.

More symbolic than anything, the items sought to have police arrest Bush and Cheney if they ever visit Brattleboro or nearby Marlboro or to extradite them for prosecution elsewhere — if they're not impeached first.

In Brattleboro, the vote was 2,012-1,795. In Marlboro, which held a town meeting on the issue, it was 43-25 with three abstentions.

"I hope the one thing that people take from this is, 'Hey, it can be done,'" said Kurt Daims, 54, who organized the petition drive that led to the Brattleboro vote.

The measure in Marlboro isn't binding because it didn't appear on the warning for the meeting, according to Nora Wilson.

"It was emotional. There were heartfelt speeches on both sides," Wilson said.

The question put to voters in Brattleboro referred to "crimes against our Constitution" but did not specify the allegations.

In Brattleboro, a steady stream of voters paraded into the Union High School gym to cast their ballots on a day when school board elections and Vermont's presidential primary were also on the slate.

Voters interviewed after casting ballots said they saw the article as an opportunity to express their frustration over the war in Iraq and Bush's tenure in general.

"I realize it's an extreme thing to do, and really silly in a way," said Robert George, 74, a retired photographer. "But I'm really angry about us getting involved in the war in Iraq and him (Bush) disrespecting the will of the people."

Vermont. What a waste of time. Vermont is nothing but a bunch of welfare recipients waiting for the next hand out. They don’t contribute anything excpet bad syrup, teddy bears at Christmas (probably made in China) and one of the most destructive Senators in the history of this country.

Hey VT... don't you have more important things to worry about like growing "organic" vegetables, milking cows, making cheese, churning butter, making ice cream?

There's a reason I haven't been to VT since circa '96... this goof ball "indictment" is just another reason to not visit anytime in the near / far-off future.

The whole damned state hasn’t seen one cent of tourist money from me in several decades......ever since it became ovbious that Vermont had morphed into Massachusetts’ colon.

No, it's just extremely silly, period. It appears these ADHD BDS LW nitwits have already forgotten that Congress approved the invasion of Iraq in a bipartisan vote, as others have noted here. Guess that shows the kind of brain damage that can develop from experiencing extended frostbite.

Heh heh. As though we’re supposed to take anything Vermont does seriously - the first gay union state, the home state of Howard Dean and one of the smallest states in both population and size. And even in radical left-wing Vermont, they were only barely able to get a majority to support this nonsense! I don’t think that President Bush would even bother going to Vermont anyway!

'Hey, it can be done,'" said Kurt Daims, 54

Kurt ya blithering idiot....it can't be done. I do not care if ya passed yer little gas with 100% backing in yer seditious little ville of dipsh*ts.

You try and arrest a standing US president when he rides through your town, regardless of which party or what you consider to be crimes. You will be standing in a smoking hole when the USSS and DOD gets done with your sorry butt !

Brattleboro VT has stooped below Berkley CA in insanity ....who'd a thunk it possible !

Medved had this assclown on his show. Even liberals were calling up to say this guy is insane. He couldn't come up with a reason why Bush should be arrested, or an actual charge. Daims said that "Bush was on tape somewhere, approving torture".

I had a professor from Vermont scream at me for over two hours on a plane trip last year. I intentionally goaded him (Bush will go down as the greatest President ever) just to see his face turn redder. I pretty much hate Vermont. But I did enjoy that flight in some weird way. As my family in Carolina says...”Bless their hearts”

"Brattleboro"

I knew I heard of that place before... (following NOT from Wiki)

The Vermont region was explored and claimed for France by Samuel de Champlain in 1609, and the first French settlement was established at Fort Ste. Anne in 1666. The first English settlers moved into the area in 1724 and built Fort Dummer on the site of present-day Brattleboro. England gained control of the area in 1763 after the French and Indian Wars.
Note that Vermont was originally FRENCH. I believe that explains quite a lot. Including Howard Dean's wacky behavior.

:-)
