Penn prof still hot to tackle Al Gore on global warming

The University of Pennsylvania marketing professor who has publicly challenged Al Gore to a $10,000 bet over global warming is coming to New York - and he still wants a showdown with the former vice president.

Scott Armstrong will be in town for a climate change conference that he hopes will sway public opinion away from Gore's well-known views on the perils of global warming.

"He claims to be interested in science," Armstrong, an expert on mathematical forecasting at the Wharton School, told the Daily News. "It would be a good place for him to go."

Armstrong first engaged Gore last June when he challenged the star of "An Inconvenient Truth" to a wager to see who could more accurately predict the Earth's temperature over the next 10 years.

Gore replied promptly and courteously, but he told the scholar he was too busy, Armstrong says.

The Goracle has been MIA this winter, hasn’t he.

With his Global Warming theory falling apart, he's probably trying to figure out a new scam to tax internet usage. After all he did invent the internet

Armstrong is an expert in mathematical forecasting? I guess that means that he’s an actuary, that he figures statistical odds. Gore wouldn’t have a chance of winning a bet based on consensus vs a bet based on statistical odds. This would be funny to see.

The left has simply pulled a brilliant, if scientifically untenable coup.

They have linked Pollution with Global Warming as Cause and Effect.. Thus has become dogma, urban legend, common knowledge. Public School General Science Teacher stuff.(By the way, the hip lefties now at least have the good sense to call Global Warming "Climate Change.") Along the way, the Milankovitch Cycle (which measures the distance from the Sun, Axial Tilt, and Precessional Rotation) and Sun Activity have been conveniently forgotten. If every Pubic Scrool were required to have a giant model of the Milankovitch Cycle, and some maybe some big posters and graphs correlating Earth temperatures to Sun Activity over the centuries, a lot of this Al Gore hysterical hosshiite might be diminished a bit. He has kids worried that rising ocean levels due to anthropogenic Global Warming will inundate their pre-school, ruining their art projects before Parents'Day and drowning their hamsters!

Although the Earth's present position in the Milankovith Cycle should tend to even out the differences between Winter and Summer, actual measurements show a slightly cooler planet over the last year, specifically a much colder winter all around the globe. This may be due to very low Sun activity. Sun activity hasn't been this low since the Little Ice Age of the late 16th and l7th Centuries.

The Goreacle does not have to answer to mere mortals, and he most certainly need not concern himself with actual science, statistics, facts, evidence, or reasoning!!

He is the Goreacle, and that should be enough for all of you peons. Now stop whining and bow down before the Goreacle!!

Gore doesn’t have to listen to another denier who’s in the pockets of “Big Oil”. The science is already settled anyway.

Michael Oppenheimer, commenting on the Heartland conference:

“the core of the science on climate change is settled, and nothing these people do is going to change that.”
