IIRC, just that a cop was present, perhaps that she used her weapon - post 7 seemed noncontroversial or I would have jumped on it myself ... maybe it was a later post or even something on another thread that got the id nuked.

Wow.
No wonder I’ve noticed such a push for Canadians to buy Florida property.
Funny, they aren’t mentioning the “fringe benefits” in the articles I’ve read.

Any time Haitians are managed by other Haitians, they work well together there is little fighting and things go smoothly. So why is there so much violence there? Is someone else managing them now? And what about Papa Doc? He was Hatian, wasn't he?

LOL! I was born in 1946. My earliest childhood memories are watching my grandmother's B&W 13 inch Admiral television...especially baseball...with the single camera upstairs behind homeplate. I can still 'see' Willie Mays making that running basket catch in deep centerfield with his back to the infield. And, Warren Spahn and White Ford.
After the World Series was over, we'd run outside and play catch. IN THE SNOW! {Buffalo, NY}
Yes, the 50's seemed so peaceful...but then again, I wasn't a teenager until 1959. LOL!

I’m in Homestead, about the last place left they could build in S. Florida.
After taking most of the farm land for housing and/or shopping centers, increasing our population by est. 60,000 now most housing is sitting half completed or empty.
You can buy or sell down here. Only construction now are strip malls and a CVS building right next to every Walgreens. On the good side, we now have 2 Starbucks.
Can’t wait to get out of this hell hole, but like many, we’re stuck.

kids could play outdoors, walk uptown, walk in the countryside without being raped or kidnapped. It WAS a great time.
Yes, when I finally moved from the country to a small city on the gulfcoast of Mississippi, there were 2 movie theaters. We could walk to town, take the bus, or our parents would drop us off at the movies. No misbehaving at the movies or you were out of the show and your parents would hear about it. No one bothered you. The days are gone but at least we got to live them - not so with the kids today. So sad.

So you’re the person who shattered our ‘50’s peace when you became a teenager! :). It is so good to have those memories of a “gentler time”. The kids today can’t even imagine what a great time that was. We were allowed to be kids and our environment was safe. Now parents have to worry about their kids playing on the front lawn without a pervert scooping them up. I didn’t have TV till I was 11 when we finally moved to a small city on the Mississippi gulf coast - then it was the 13” B&W like everone else. We later got a color TV which my father was dead set against because he said color TV would never work. Did your parents buy the color thing that fit over the B & W TV that had the blue for sky the pink middle and the green bottom for grass? I miss Ed Sullivan!!!

Two killed in shooting at Wendy's near West Palm Beach
A witness saw the shooter enter the restaurant bathroom. As soon as he came out he pulled out what looked like a 9mm handgun. He shot the deceased victim at near point-blank range then turned to the left and started shooting more rounds.
Witness Jerry Pritcherd, 20, of Fort Myers, said he heard a pop and didn't realize it was gunshots. He said he was "scared" when he heard about 20 pops and ran out. He said he was 10 feet away from the shooter, who he said was a tall black man wearing a business suit.
According to a witness, all of the victims are customers. After firing off many rounds, the gunman then shot himself and died in the middle of the restaurant. Three victims were flown to area hospitals.
--------------------------------------
I grew up in the 60's and 70's but it wasn't too bad in small town Tucson and countryside, we sure didn't have evil idiots shooting up the town that I remember. My Mom went to business school in downtown Tucson early 70's; I went "to town" with her and wandered around downtown at will while 13 years old the whole summer. Ice cream cones were still a nickel at the drugstore. The library was a beautiful WPA building, now it's an ugly triangle with twisted red beams in front (art.)

I recall all of us paying outside on summer nights in the late 50s and 60s.
Yes, and I can even recall letting my son and his friends play in the neighborhood till dark. My front door was always unlocked for my son to come in and out and that was in the late ‘60’s early 70’s.
