***After the gun battle between the two people armed with handguns, Mack died in the house of multiple bullet wounds, DeBusk said. No one else in the home was injured during the gunfight, he said.***

This passes for writing?

"Also, the headline says “slain,” which has powerful connotations of unjust murder."

Yes, I began reading the article with the assumption that an innocent boy inside the home was killed by the intruding perp.

Teenager? Why teenager?

Because this way it makes the gun owner/visitor seems like a heartless killer. Dont you just love the media?

From the headline and the first sentence you can’t tell if the dead guy is a victim or perpetrator. At first it almost sounds like he is the resident at the home.

I think I would be afraid to go to Knoxville with all the crime there. And of course any time I ever hear of that city in the future I will never forget the images of those college kids so savagely raped and murdered there last year. The trials for the scumbags in that case are coming up in May I think.

This part didn’t make sense to me. Did they find a shred of evidence of wrongdoing? When an armed burglar is dead on the floor, my tendency would be to say “Good job!” not “You’re under arrest.”.

It doesn't appear the shooter was arrested.

All self-defense shootings are investigated. They need to make sure that it was actually self defense and not a very well planned out premeditated murder.

"Jamodd ?"

Rolls off your tongue as easily as, "Barak", doesn't it?

Let's try them in a sentence:

"Today, President Barak H. Obama had dinner in the White House with..."

"Today, President Jamodd Mack had dinner in the White House with..."

"Today, President Barak Mack had dinner in the White House with..."

"Today, President Jamodd Obama had dinner in the White House with..."

“”Also, the headline says “slain,” which has powerful connotations of unjust murder.””

Also, not only does the headline not indicate which side he was on, but the first paragraph doesn’t, the second paragraph doesn’t.

It’s not until you get to the third paragraph, almost halfway through the article, that they say it was one of the “alleged” invaders.

No bias there at all (now, where did I put that sarcasm tag?)

"Authorities this morning said a 16-year-old Knoxville boy was killed during a weekend home break-in that prompted a gun battle inside the residence."

Nope. A 16 year old armed trespasser was killed while he was commissioning a crime.

Likewise, this is why liberals are whacked-in-the-head when they say that 16 year olds shouldn't be eligible for the death penalty.

Well, if that 16 year old trespassing criminal is shooting at you inside your own house, then yeah, he should get the death penalty; instantly.

And if not then...the courts should do it to him later.

“No charges have been filed in connection with the slaying. DeBusk said police planned to take their probe to the Knox County District Attorney General’s office for a decision on bringing any charges.” This part didn’t make sense to me. Did they find a shred of evidence of wrongdoing? When an armed burglar is dead on the floor, my tendency would be to say “Good job!” not “You’re under arrest.”. I think the police get annoyed when people protect themselves better than the police could protect them. Might make people ‘uppity’. ;-)

Hopefully, if they catch up with the dead guy's posse member who high tailed it, charges WILL be filed. Namely filed against the one that got away. I'm pretty sure that in most states, if a death results from the commission of a felony, capital murder charges result.

Maybe someone could add that to one of the “pin the middle name on the Obama” threads.

Barak Jamodd Obama

Nice ring to it :)

This story shows why its so essential to fight any attempts to restrict or terminate our 2nd Amendment rights.
We give up our guns and Jamodd and his boys keep theirs?
I don’t think so.

You mean to tell me the POLICE were not there to stop the perp who broke into the house and was armed with a gun!

You mean to tell me that its against the Law to break into someones home, and that didn’t stop the perp!

I might be guessing here, but it sounds like the law didn’t work, but the armed citizen worked great!

I am being a little sarcastic here, but you get the point.

Police (with firearms) always show up when the crime is over! When seconds count, the Police are only minutes away!

Thanks, I was wondering about that, myself.
